Idle to high?
Hey, so im still very new with my coupe, and i was wondering if 2 grand is a high idle for the engine? Thanks a bunch
Re: Idle to high?
that is way high...you want it around 8-900 rpms...check your iacv, it might need a cleaning or is stuck...also check the the tubes running to it, make sure they are both warm when then engine is at normal temp...you can always adjust the idle with a flathead screwdriver near the throttle body

Cold as in just started. Being really cold outside can make it idle higher but even at 23c it will idle much higher than it will at operating temp.

650 warm idle? isn't that on the verge of stalling? My warm idle is 800-900 and almost 2000 cold. If I try to lower the idle to 600 the oil pressure starts dropping and the engine sounds like it's chugging.

Indeed. I removed the iacv on my 16v it idles around 600 rpm on a cold start without manually raising the throttle; at 600 rpm it either stalls or runs terrible.
