Transmission noise after rebuild

Postby Autohaus_Z » Tue May 27, 2014 10:15 pm

I bought a used tranny that was supposed to be "good" and a rebuild kit from a member on here from the classifieds section. After the rebuild my trans whines loud in every gear except 4th. Noise always goes away when I step on the clutch pedal. There is also a small whine at idle in neutral. In gear on decel, the noise also goes away. New exedy clutch kit, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, HKS flywheel. Anyone have any ideas before I tear open the trans again?

what type of oil did you use?
i was told by a tranny shop not to use synthetic oil on the tranny.
75-90 gear oil or
try i 85-140 gear oil

85-140 seems way too heavy to me. I started with 75-90 syncromesh. Some one suggested I try MT90. I had a spare qt, so half and half MT90 and syncromesh. The whine is really loud.

did you have a tranny shop do the rebuilt? if yes take it back to them..

do you have a short throw shifter? my tranny whine after i install a short throw shifter.. my tranny whine a lot more when i use 75-90 royal purple synthetic gear oill.. so i been using cheap 75-90 gear oil and it more quiet now..
did you lower your car? that could change your pinion angle and make your drive drain sound louder..

I'm out of idea ttt
