Call it what you want but I'll figure skate all day long if my rolla could beat an M3, without some ridiculous Mods

It was meant humorously but in all seriousness a 16 year old living out some initial D fantasy in a 230 HP 86 is one of the scariest things I have had to think about on these forums in a long time.

Had you said you wanted to go hit HPDEs, and track days and wanted to learn how to properly drive a car fast I would be all about it.

I'm only 18, and know how to drive a car pretty damn well IMO. and that is scary lol. I plan on taking my car to track days, and maybe gettin into autox and drifting.

as for the OP- I just got my 86 about 3 weeks ago, it has a N/A 3tc swap and it's built. All I can possibly do for any more power other than a little tuning, is change my distributor. A decent, not too expensive power adder for me was e3 spark plugs. those coupled with my MSD ignition made for a noticeable power difference (granted the 4age is a totally different animal). As it sits, I have invested over $10k in the car. Budget and fast 86 don't seem to mesh at all. (however, mine isn't slow... but it's not 230whp) I don't know what it puts out for power, but I can say it smoked an 06 BMW M3 the other day...

I'm more than twice your age and I couldn't smoke a properly driven M3 in an '86 no matter what mods you did to it.
Remember though it is all about the nut that holds the wheel !
Oh and in my opinion everyone thinks they can drive pretty damn well

Couldnt agree more with the above statement.

No way a a reasonably stock 3tc will beat an e46 M3. All up to the drivers though. Throw captain hook behind the wheel of a e60 v10 M5 and you got a chance. Or it could be that the M3 was a clone and was actually a 320. Depends on whether you know the owner I suppose.

My 4ac has pulled all kinds of cars off the light, Audis, BMWs, Jaguars, Civics, Minivans, Dump Trucks, and the occasional garbage truck and 18 wheeler. Thing hauls ass, but im a pretty damn good driver too.

Original poster kid: forget the 86 and buy a Miata. You will actually get to learn how to drive it instead of spending all your free time fixing the AE86 that some fanboy trashed trying to make it a super fabulous driftah.
