differential/rear end sr5

i have an 1986 ae86 sr5 coupe. i blew the pinion bearing and would rather just replace the rear end instead of fixing it, started to fix it and did more damage then i thought. lol. does anyone know if a 83 corolla rear end will fit in my car, and if not will the diff itself ? thanks for the help!

Any 6.38 S-code, 8-bolt rear axle will bolt in... So yes. You might want to confirm the gear ratio before you commit to the new one.... R&P ratios from autos are different from manual AE86s -- and E70s are different again. If your car has a stock manual and you change to an auto ratio, you'll be pushing a taller gear.

SR5 Auto is 4.10:1 -- and manual is 3.9:1

I think an Auto E70 is 3.91 -- and a manual is 3.73. I would presume this includes your AE71 (83) rear end.... but I'm not sure -- It could be the same as an AE86 SR5 (both are 4AC) Just check it by counting the revolutions à la Youtube.
