Postby RLZ » Sun Sep 29, 2013 7:12 pm

hi guys, i replaceed my old header with a trd one, but i broke the teeth on the trd header egr nut hole, i think i didnt put the bolt right and tighten it so the teeth on the nut and bolt are worn, i dont know what to do now, cut the nut and weld the new one? please give me some ideas, thank you!

if the threads arent totally stripped, you might be able to get away with cleaning the threads up with a tap. or you could weld a new nut right on top. or weld a plug in if you dont use the egr(t50 tranny fill plug fits). might be able to get a helicoil, maybe.

Thank you for the reply, I wanna keep the EGR so I need to fix it, doesnt it too high if I weld the new one on the top? I might be call some mechanics of they have ideas!

If you just want to get it off, use some vice grips. Thats what I always use to get stripped bolts off. Then go the dealer or junkyard and snag another one. Pretty simple fix. I really dont think a tap would work as well as some vice grips on this job.

luckily my mechanic has some laying around, got it fixed yesterday. do you know which other car has the same banjo bolt with the ae86? I need to grab some spare just in case.
