FOUND: Where to find non-eBay flywheel?

Postby TheOxyMorin » Tue Aug 27, 2013 7:17 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm purchasing a stage 1 ACT clutch and pressure plate and I'm looking for an OEM or equivalent flywheel.

I've only found F1 Racing flywheel (eBay brand) and it seems they flood my search option... other than that I saw a Cusco flywheel for nearly $600 which is way over my budget.

Is there any other options I have? I currently have an F1 Racing stage 1 flywheel with heat spots :/ should I just get another? Roughly $200.

Heat spots considered non-machinable or you want a factory that will absorb more heat?

You're comment is a little difficult to understand. I'm looking for OEM flywheel or equivalent that isn't eBay brand. If not, I'm going to have my eBay one with heat spots machined, or purchase the same one online for $200.

It's not exactly what you are looking for but I can get you a Fidanza for around $350.
It's a lot better than the Cusco at least.

I have a Toda with heat spots too. It's nothing specific to F1 brand. If the flywheel is true and has no cracks, the discoloration doesn't matter. Just resurface it and instruct the shop to remove as little material as possible. Less weight = less material to absorb and distribute heat.

Thank you for the comment. Trying to stay with low-budget so I'm going to see if mine can be resurfaced then make a decision... Thanks!

I was looking for an Exedy stage 1 clutch kit w/ pressure plate... unfortunately the only kits available came with an F1 Racing flywheel. I did search for solely for a flywheel but I think I'm going to settle for a Fidanza for the new ACT Stage 1... Exedy no longer has my business.

Are you going towards the aftermarket performance or aftermarket replacement? There are a bunch of aftermarket OEM-spec replacement flywheels for the 4AGE. And there are a bunch of aftermarket performance (aka lightweight) flywheels. I kept my stock flywheel, had it resurfaced and then slapped it back on. FYI, stock 4age flywheel requires a 2-step resurfacing process.

I was looking for a light performance flywheel. Car will see both the street as well as the track. When I purchased the car it had an eBay flywheel. I'm going to get the Fidanza, I've heard good reviews and the surface is replaceable for cheap just in case as well as it being lightweight. Thank you for the information!

strange, because earlier you said that you wanted a an OEM or equivalent. Now your looking for a lightweight performance flywheel? I'd like to help you but its kinda hard with you not letting us know exactly where you need help.

Originally I was looking for OEM or replacement. Nothing is anywhere to be found. Aftermarket is my only option. might as well get whatever is cheapest that isn't eBay.

Check out Illegal garage in the classifieds, business section. He has a decent selection.

I have a stock flywheel sitting around, since I got a deal I couldnt refuse on a Toda 3.7KG.
PM me if you want the stock one.

one of the best compromises is finding a blacktop flywheel... lighter then all the other OEM flywheels, and yet very durable

New they are about $200, problem is getting one new... some sources can get them.

PLEASE do tell of your experience using a Cusco 4AGE flywheel/clutch? Which Cusco was it? What failed? No offense... but what you posted is massively incomplete at the very least.......

For $200 you can get a chromoly eBay flywheel
I would use one before I would use a 20V flywheel
But to each his own I guess

I felt like the Chromoly was almost equivalent to the eBay/F1 Racing flyhweel. Especially by the price. I settled with a Fidanza aluminum lightweight. ~320 bucks
