I want to replace my lever type clutch slave cylinder

Postby Toy Spit » Sun May 17, 2015 7:50 am

Does anyone make one of those slave cylinders that sits completly inside the bell housing with NO lever? I am putting a 4A-GE in my Triumph Spitfire and I have clearance issues with the arm on the standard slave cylinder. I would like to eliminate it completly. Sources? Thanks.

Matrix Garage if anyone has for a Toyota specific, otherwise search 'hydraulic throwout bearing' for something that's probably adaptable.

I don't have anything but I might be able to help you find or make something. This definitely has my interest now although the hydraulic slaves are not cheap.

The original design for this was used on SAABs, it goes back to the late 1960s... I believe... Besides the GM one, you might also try looking for a SAAB one to base the design from....

There is a concern for engineering this... the standard T50 clutch fork has much more range of motion then the SAAB style does. You would need to be accurate to get the SAAB one not to over extend. There is likely an advantage too..... the T50s current t/o bearing rides on an easily removable sheath that should provide a decent area for mounting an adapter plate to make the overall engineering of this far simpler....

hate those dam things..... gotta pull the gearbox if/when they leak.... and sounds like you're already in a tight space

gts and sr5 has the slave (and hard line obviously) on opposite sides of the bellhousing, so that may be another oem option... depending on how you route your exhaust ?
