Yup.

Just secured myself a supra rear axle. Very excited.

So I'm contemplating either cutting off the SR5 mounts and welding it onto the supra, or getting some custom 4-links made.

Thoughts?

T3 has a 5 link that supposedly makes it a direct swap. Look under their ae86 suspension section. BUT, I'm not sure if the spring and shock mount locations differ between them. IF they do it might be an issue.

If it was me I'd cut/weld on ALL the ae86 pickups, but only because I'm picky (I'm also not big on heim joints). Did he quote you on the labor cost for that? I can't imagine it's cheap.

Making your own links would be the least expensive, but that's probably only the case if you piece everything together yourself. (Again, still not sure about the springs/shock mounts.)

I saw the T3 setup. But since my 86 is going to be a daily driver, I'm not sure if I want my spine shattered every bump I go through :P
Anyone have experience with the ride quality?

I noticed a little more gear noise after installing the t3 panhard, but didn't detect any added vibrations/harness compared to prothane poly bushings. I have no experience yet using heims on the 4 links but I imagine it's loud and harsh

Noise and vibrations will be pretty noticeable. Harsh though ... not directly from the 4 links, it depends on the springs and shocks you are running with. Rubber and Urethane bushings are for all intent and purpose springs, urethane just has a higher spring rate. They absorb deflection. Since the live axle is un-sprung all of the deflection will be forced through your springs since it will not have any where else to go with the spherical bushings (heim joints etc). If you have soft springs you will have a lot more wheel hop than before though, and the rear end will be jumpy / a little scary.

Don't want any of that. I am a decent driver, but don't want to be dealing with that all the time.

I guess cutting and welding is the way to go. Thanks guys! Stay tuned for more updates.

are you worried about the F20c causing a change in the suspension geometry / handling?
