WOW
I guess I havent been back in a loooong time. I had to register with a different name cause for some reason I couldnt get my old one back. Used to be Coolnamewit86init.
Oh well. My car finally runs after a long downtime and build up. For the full thread - that used to be about the same as the old forum thread - you can look at hr (http://hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8589)
But quickly is used to look like this:
Then:
pretty much now:
Picked up from PSI where they fixed some final stuff and tuned the engine:
It made 160hp and 117 max tq. I was expecting more but I think my cams are limiting me (288/272 9mm lift) In the winter I may go with some bigger ones.
Still buttoning up a few things and getting it street ready.
All Red Everything
Re: All Red Everything
super nice engine, it looks like at least make 200+ hp like N2 cars!
Re: All Red Everything
Ha, it just looks fast.
Not putting the Runfree kit on till its reliable and has had a proper shakedown.
So I bought about $24 dollars worth of bolts and nuts to put the JDM ones back one cause I couldnt find my old ones =/

Re: All Red Everything
RUN FREE TYPE 2. So good! wish i was able to still source it reasonably.
Re: All Red Everything
Took it for its first ride around the hood today. Went to get coffee from one of the stands after this shot and the temp kept rising. Got home and found out that the power for the fan wasnt connected. Close call.
Gonna try and fix the oil leak tonight. Hopefully get an alignment tomorrow.

Car looks sweet in every stage
Re: All Red Everything
Thanks dudes!
Some people like the JDM bumpers and some people like the kit. Im going to keep both - it isnt hard to switch whenever.
So one of the AN lines on the filter kit was a tad loose so i tightened it and no more leak from there, though there is a tiny/slow leak from the pan I think.
Painted the top of the JDM bumper with some spray can Toyota Super Red II, matches pretty good
Got a quick front alignment just good enough to drive. It was my goal all last week to get it together enough to drive to Autohero and it made it with no issue. To be honest I have been kind of scared of the engine. Its taken almost 5yrs to complete for various reasons, and its cost me a bunch of money so I have been real careful with it but Im getting more comfortable with it now.
This dude that asked me to be a judge for a car show hit me up asking if I would be available for a promo video, I said sure. I think they wanted the skyline but Im over that thing for the time being and took the 86
Drove around and met up with a few friends
Before its track ready i need to wrap the first header runner - Im worried that the cam angle sensor will over heat.
Get a full proper alignment - though I am worried my old rear Battleversion 4 links might be seized.
Get the tach working and button up the interior
Install the cusco cage that has been gathering dust.
Fix the nagging oil leak.

Re: All Red Everything
What kind of bolts and nuts did you use to put in your Jdm bumpers?
And would it be the same for bolting up the brackets to the bumpers?

Re: All Red Everything
wau, a long time since I posted anything.
Car runs great, Ive been real careful with it this last year gaining confidence in it. Its shaken down great fro the street. But I signed up for my first lapping day may 17th so I have a few things I want to do before I track it.
New tires, I bought some Advan Neova AD08s but they wont seal on the 9j, they are a 205. I have a plan to get em seated though.
I also have to fix a clunk in the tension rod, move the filer relocation kit further away from the header, wrap the cam angle sensor, and wrap the starter. Maybe move the batter to the rear.
