Teenage Build - AE86

Postby SlideSexy » Mon Apr 15, 2013 10:53 am

Hello Club4AG! My names Ralphy and I'm a 17 year old car enthusiast that just purchased an 87 GTSR5 Kouki Coupe

Well after going through two tiring previous builds (1992 Aztec Green Acura Integra GSR B16A swapped/1990 Calypsorot Metallic BMW 325i Sedan) I finally settled to a clean car that actually RUNs and/or doesn't need much body work (unlike both the Integra and 325i that were rusted, & the 325i was in the process of a motor swap that was never finished.)

The car was almost completely converted to a GTS. The only things missing were the gas tank and the front+rear seats.

This car will be built by my dad (misterfx8 -> he owns an 86 Hatch possibly going 1UZ ;D) and I in our own home.

So enough of the boring stuff; here's what it has

Drivetrain+Power
Rebuilt 16v 4age with 6k Miles
T50 Transmission
T3 Short Shifter
GTS Rear End
Straight pipes + ??? Muffler (way too loud)

Suspension + Footwork
BC Racing Coilovers 8k/6k (with spindles! no welding woot woot!)
New Tie Rods
New Bushings for Panhard Bar & Sway Bar
New Brake Rotors
New Brake Pads

Interior
Vertex Deep Steering Wheel
??? Shift Knob
Dash Cover
NRG Harness Bar
??? 5 Point Harness
No Rear Seats
No Radio

Exterior
GTS Front
TRD badges (that I immediately removed)
Newer Corolla badge (2005ish Corolla, removed this too)
Yellow Headlights (Swapped these out too!)

Rims + Tires
Original Enkei 92 14x7et15
Fuzion HRI 195/65

Here she goes, My dirty white girl ;)

Just some little things I bought for her to add my own little touch... + SUPER DOOPER HORZE POWAZ

The "so fresh" decal was supposed to go on my old 325i, but I never put it.
& I'm an Initial D freak so I have to get the Akina Speed Stars.

Smallllll Update: Added my decals on the car, and got another one from Nic aka "Corolllin" saying Olds Cool Car Crew!

Installed a new Ipod specific radio and upgraded the front speakers.

Currently in the process of Repainting my Valve Covers (which I'm leaning towards the Wrinkle Black with White lettering design), my timing covers (with a new "4age" decal thanks to Battle Garage), and my Front + Rear GTS Bumpers. I'll get pics of all that when it's done.

Heres some pics of the decals (sorry if they're too big!)

And here's a pic of the front end missing the grill and GTS parts sitting all sad :(
Peep the big single Windshield Wiper ;D

Added a 25mm Spacer all around

Here's what it looks like on the Enkei 92s 14x7+15 (-10). & the Advan Racing Oni's 15x7+15 (-10) with a 205 50 15.
I know I still need to lower the car, I'm just waiting on rolling the fenders.

I bought a few things for the car like some Rolling Guy decals (if you've played Tokyo Extreme Racer, you'll know what that is), a 4 Point Takata Harness that will be paired up with the Corbeau Clubman (thanks to GoodKnight) I'll be picking up this weekend!

No Interior, to Testfitted Rear Interior... it's so much better.

My dad is gonna come up with some sort of support for the seats using metal bars since the middle caves in due to not having any metal there :? But he always has good ideas of DIY stuff so Ik i'll be good.

Also the Blue NRG Harness Bar will probably be forsale after I install the Takata Harness inside the rear seat.

Also my dad and I put together all our parts for both of our cars for his birthday, and boy are we loading up.

its the Longer wingshield wiper (uhh passenger side? moved to the drivers side, or vice versa)

I ended up putting both back on, the 1 windshield wiper looks cleaner, but doesnt move fast enough on its own.

Haha to be honest my first car in fact WAS a Honda!!! a 1992 GSR with a B16A .. dad installed motor to test it, then pulled out to paint engine bay... ended up not wanting car anymore, so i sold it lol.

But yeah, I want to do it right the first time around. that way no problems will come later on!

Thanks for the support!

keep up the good work, I see a lot of cool parts in there. It is not rocket science, making a corolla look cool, but people still manage to biff it. I wish you the best of luck.

Cool little news for this thread I guess.

Seeing how I bought this GTS coupe with mods for a cheap price (1/4 of stock GTS's haha), and was gonna sell off the drivetrain anyway, I made a deal with my dad.

He originally was planning on going 1UZ/W58 with a Ford Rear & has a complete Levin conversion, and I was going to buy his WHOLE Kouki Trueno setup (J-blood kit, all new oem mounts, oem bumper lights, oem grill, Raybrig H4's and such) but we came to a conclusion

Since his car has been a shell for a while, we decided to throw the whole drivetrain of the parts car into his hatch to have it atleast running and nothing will have to be custom and such.

So in exchange for the whole drivetrain (150k bluetop+trans, all harnesses, driveshaft and oem LSD GTS rear ) he traded me his Trueno setup, instead of me buying it.

With that said, after the winter (as my car will be stored away) she'll be kitted, lowered more & i'll save my pennies for some 14/15x8 or 8.5 wheels and my car will be set..
~~~~ expect some engine mods over the winter as well :mrgreen:
Not a bad way for TWO father and son builds to come together eh? & DONT WORRY GUYS, I'll throw pics of my dads car when it starts to get worked on more. Maybe even make a build thread for him.
