So after many months of trying to find a project 86 shell to make into a race car I have finally decided to make me RHD Levin the project. I bought this car in 2012 while I was stationed in Japan. When I bought the car it actually had the stock exhaust and intake. I was determined to maintain this unicorn and leave it as stock as possible for car shows. After many nights drinking in the garage with my friends I finally decided to start working on this car to prep it for its natural habitat... the corners. My biggest fear for this project is not if, but when I crash it. I will actually be heart broken but I am also in pain just watching it sit in my garage. In this thread I will just be showing my very very slow progress and asking some questions here and there to the wizards of the 86 community. I know that not much really goes on in here anymore but it would be nice for some input from those who do still visit this page.

First thing first this winter I will be draining all of the fluids and normal maintenance. I just changed the plugs, wires, cap. I am also going to be changing out my wheel bearings. I have done research and found a few stores that sell complete sets for both front and rear. I will need to do some more research on these company's because I have never heard of them and would hate to throw some cheap bearing in the car. If you have some input on a company you normally buy through great. If not that's fine too and I hope to be posting in this thread soon.

With a car like that you just need to make sure everything you change can be changed
back the way it was without leaving a mark No cut and weld... only bolt-ons, and you
will still be able to have some fun on the track.

As far as I know KOYO are the only manufacturer for the rear wheel bearings. The fronts
are conventional cup and cone, so any big name brand should be fine.

autozone sells koyo rear bearings, so does the dealership. Fronts are usually timken.

I got rear axle bears from professionalautoparts.com The SKF Part number K8000-23939. It's a stock replacement axle bearing for the AE86 and it only cost about 40% of what the dealer was asking. Dave W

Good information ^^^^ that. Seems some manufacturers other than KOYO have
started making this bearing. A search under SKF GRW147R will bring up quite a few
suppliers, and this link... http://www.yoyopart.com/oem/611448/skf-grw147r.html
gives a few crossovers. Worth shopping around to see who has stock at a good price.

You will also need to get new retainers and seals, and any decent industrial bearing
supplier should be able to get you those as well.

Awesome. Thank you everyone's for the input. I remember when I brought this car to a local Toyota dealer to have them done and they quoted me around $800. I didn't want to have to deal with pressing in the rear. After that I decided everything will be done by myself at my garage or local auto hobby shop.

that car is too clean and rare too drift it! ,,,,, ill trade you mi clean bone stock red gts kouki and jdm parts for it .. drift mines instead.. lol..... looks like youre in maine , im in ct not to far....
