I love your build man. Just a note though, mounting the temp sensor on a sandwich block that goes under the exhaust manifold made the sensor show the wrong temp readings. The aluminum heats up and heats the sensor. It was always way higher than it actually was.

more updated/better pics of cage. made the forward bars today, also pulled my front subframe and suspension. brought it home with me so I can do the brakes and bearings here. Going to have my friend josh powdercoat my calipers and dust shields for me.

As far as the chassis goes, there are only a few more parts of the cage left, harness bars, door bars and the top bar that goes along the top of windshield/roof. Then a few spots of minor rust repair here and there then the car is going for paint.

Before it gets sent off for paint we're going to make mounts for the engine and take measurements for the driveshaft and have that ordered while car is being painted.

then once its painted its just a matter of slapping it all back together... in a manner of speaking.

Put my front rotors on. Thinking about maybe trying to clean up the hubs and paint them or soemthing maybe, not sure yet.

and heres a couple shots of the drivers side forward bar, its just ziptied to the a-pillar so it doesnt really show how it fits. it will be a lot tighter to the a-pillar once the crush box is in and its all welded.

nice build......i will be exploring the Beams engine next.....possibly to replace my 20v in the Ae86 and transplanting it into something more spirited like a wide body starlet if i can find one......keep up the good work..!

yea the fitment was my number one concern with this cage. I'm a pretty tall guy for a corolla so i dont want a really intrusive cage. And I'm really happy with how it came out, and recommend that anyone in the WI/IL area that ones to go to Destruction Warehouse in Kenosha.

I got really pumped up when I saw the gussets, I though they were coffin shaped!
That would have been so awesome considering this is "Red Death Revival" haha.

I ordered my clutch from RHDJapan

ok heres the last of the cage progress pics because its finally done. Instead of going to NSB this weekend i stayed home to get **** done on the car.

finished cage. I could not be happier with how it turned out.

Also got my calipers back from powder coating. they look sweet. .

took all the hard lines out of my engine bay to make it easier to paint.

rebuilding calipers went well, everything is all set to go back on the car.

This is my first time ever doing wheel bearings or rebuilding calipers or anything like that, so I guess the true test will be if they actually work, once on the car.

Pads are Hawk HPS, lines are Goodridge, rotors are 88rotors

Awesome build man! What's the word on the chassis wiring? I'm curious since I am considering this as a route for my own chassis given the age of our cars and wanting to go with something more "reliable" since I have had quite a few electrical gremlins I acquired from the previous owner.

you mean whats the status? I was just talking to the guy thats doing it for me and its well on its way, it shouldnt be too long before its done.

if you're wondering what i'm doing, its just all custom using the ARC 8000D kit, harness will be all cool with milspec stuff and things.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant lol. Love the ARC 8000D kit although I'm am still trying to decide how I want to do my interior wiring. I want to add more creature comforts for the rolla since I mainly daily my car, but with the added "reliability" of new wiring given the age of our cars. Currently looking at a few of painless wiring's harness kits, but checking out what other rolla enthusiasts are doing as well.

yea i looked at a buttload of different kits, painless, keep it clean, etc.

I chose the ARC 8000d for a number of reasons;
1. it was simpler than the others, has a fuse and relay box all in one.
2. the touch panel is more visually appealing than others (some you have to make your own or use stock switches)
3. a lot of people in the midwest here use it, so if anything goes wrong and I dont know how to fix it, I have a lot of help nearby .
4. I've heard this **** is rock solid reliable and have heard of almost no one who had problems with it.

its probably not the best if you want to have a lot of creature comforts, but I dont want any of that, the less **** I have that can break, the better. My goal is to have the harness done and never have to touch the wiring in the car again unless I want to add something like wipers. or an aftermarket heater to defog my windshield.

Thank you for the compliments, my main objective for this cage was to be exactly that, high and tight. I wanted it to be as close to the chassis and least intrusive it could possibly be. I cant stand sloppy fitting cages, especially when I'm not loaded and i'm planning on doing this ONCE so I wanted to make sure it got done right. As far as I can tell it meets all Formula D regulations, which is what I wanted (not like I'm going to drive fd, but I wanted a guideline to follow). And i'm probably going to have it tech inspected.

Wow, thank you for the pics. I didnt realize some of them were earlier on in your thread, thanks for posting them again.
I hope you dont mind me using your mounting bases when I do mine :D .
I have one question about your base mounting plates.
I was reading about having to use 6x6x1/8" plates as your bases. They all look like it accept for the front ones. Is this something that a tech inspection would point out? Also what exactly is involved in an inspection? Do they drill small holes for thickness?
