Back in the game after 5 years. bring on the headaches

I started my first 8-6 build back in 01. some may call them the glory days. When parts Where readily available, initial D tax was not a thing just yet and a set of redlines were easy to find complete for around $450 bucks. After a few years of trial and error and multiple tare Downs of my own ae's I started building cars for other people, both on and of the forum. Some of you might remember "The mobile mechanic " on the old c4ag forum. That was me. Five ae's, one fc, and one s13 later I had notice that my health had spun out of control after countless late nights of beer drink and del taco under the Hood of other people's car and my own. I could not even fit in a bucket seat any more. In short I was a big old FATTY! I could not keep on that way so I sold my last car and stepped away to get my health and life back I'm order.

So I joined an mma gym and after 9 months I lost 130lbs and had my first fight and started working there as a personal trainer. 4 years later I met my amazing and beautiful wife I now not only compete but I am also a muay Thai coach . Things were great. And then it happened.

One of my good friends from high school called me and told me to take his ae86 of him. He has No time for it and his mom wants it out of her garage because It's not a storage unit. So What did I do I jumped on it. Got my dad's truck rented a trailer and stuck it in my mom's garage hahahah. I live in Huntington beach so I don't really have a garage space Where I live. Any how before I started posting my build I just wanted to paint a picture of my journey with this car and an idea of Who I am. So I begin from a past of old headaches to a world of new ones.

Here are pics of the inside and all the wiring work I have to finish. Kinda of a nightmare. And I'm pretty sure the engine harness is zenki while the dash harness is kouki

I also decided to strip the dash and paint it due to the fact that it was so charred and dry from sun damage. This is just temporary until I find a dash worth buying or restoring.

The block was clean but some of the crank bearings where pretty nasty and the crank has to be replaced. Head is nasty so I'm going into take it into Amazon motors in Huntington. There is a little Peruvian genius there who is going to go to town on it.

Great story man, and great project you and your wife are working on. One question though what was the engine problem that you were having that made you decided to tear apart the engine? Looking forward to reading more about your project build!

I ordered new bearings and shims for the bottom end along with a new clutch and lightweight flywheel . And I hit my first problem . This is why you can never try and cut corners if your going to do a mid to hi end build . So I thought I would save some cash and get this clutch kit from "eClutch masters" which was a mistake only because I'm getting my bottom end balanced . The balancing shop called me and told me the pressure plate sits on the flywheel dowels loose and and would be a degree or two off any time I removed it . Wichita in turn will set everything out of balance so they could not use that clutch and flywheel . I have been on a wild goose chase for the past two weeks trying to find a shop that has a hi end flywheel and clutch kit they could source or had in stock . No luck so far . [emoji20]

Been really busy so I been neglecting my post . Sorry for those who are following it . I'll do a better job of updating. My wife got me something fun for the car on my birthday. A bit of an expense in a different direction then I'm going right now . But she said she could not stand the old tail lights so she got me these

Not going to lie . I have always wanted a pair just could never justify the price. I'm good with presents . I like presents

Ordered a proper flywheel from options auto salon. They have pretty much everything you could need. Ended up buying a 200mm 8lb aasco flywheel . Pretty sweet. Also ordered a 3 puck exedy clutch from my buddies at frsport. Got the flywheel in . But still waiting on the clutch
