PNW HATCH BUILD (SPACECRUISER)

Postby justinleexxx » Wed Oct 01, 2014 1:38 pm

Hey guys I bought this car as a completely stock 1985 sr5 hatchback with 170k miles that sat for 15 years. Here's the progress I've made over the past year.

BIO: I've always wanted one of these cars since I was 16. I was 23 when I bought this car. I've put every cent I've earned and every bit of spare time into this car over the past year.
I'm not building a car here I'm bringing a dream to life. Every bit of work done on this car has been done by me and some helping hands from a couple close buddies. My dream has been to save
this car.

The day I picked it up, I was towing it home. AAA for the win.

Started and drove first try. Pretty much everything else on the car was toast. The full brake system was dead, Clutch master was dead, all the wheel bearings were screwed.

The clear is on! I had a picture of an oem panda trueno on the original add on my phone and spent hours of trail and error to tape the panda off
as close to oem as I could possibly get it.

I think that the paint on those lights are about the sexiest thing I've ever seen
87 GTS Coupe Super Duper Clean
87 GTS Coupe Beams 3sge (under construction cuz I'm slow and lazy and broke-FML)
87 SR5 Coupe Shell. (Sold)
86 SR5 Hatch Shell (waiting on a 20v or BEAMS to come cheaply. hell maybe even a 4agze?!)

Awesome build!
How is the OBX twin tip exhaust?
I was thinking of getting one but a lot of people say that it's to loud.

Looks good.

I've been considering some old Recaro L series seats myself for a while now. Did you make custom seat brackets? How high up do you you sit compared to the gts seats?

Yeah I built the brackets from flat steel. They sit up a little bit higher with the recaro rails but its not bad. I'm 6ft tall.
