simple ae86 build up
Re: simple ae86 build up
beautiful job on your yota!! i need help with my 20v. i have everything completed, however im just missing the engine harness. the wiring is whats putting me at a stop and the guy i sent it to told me that he couldnt get any diagrams on how to put it together he said i needed to find a direct jdm shop to work on it. however seeing your thread has given me hope. can you point in me in any direction to find out how to put the engine harness together so i can get it to start? or can you guide me how to do it or give me some contacts that work on it? i live in orlando florida, id really appreciate your help!!!
Re: simple ae86 build up
I am preparing for an SR20 swap as well and I had some questions about the swap kit you used. It looks like you went with the JSP kit is that correct? Aside from having to cut the trans tunnel did you have to do anything else to fit the motor and trans aside from bolting in the kit? And it looks like you used poly motor mounts, what type did you use?
Re: simple ae86 build up
trans tunnel is not cut at all, jsp kit does not require cutting of the body.
mounts are poly, i would advise against them if you are going to daily the car at all.

I was referrring to the shifter hole with my question which now that I think about it that was poor word choice on my part.
I have been reading up on the conversion threads that are out there and in the one where the wrench pro kit is discussed someone mentioned a lot of extra work required to make the JSP kit work but aside from cutting the shifter hole and doing a custom exhaust I am not sure what stuff people are talking about.
And I don't plan on daily driving the car but I do want to make it comfortable to drive, so I appreciate the info on the poly mounts.

other than a a lil goofin around after, i haven't really gotten to stretch its legs, on the way to the dyno, my front wheel bearing started to fail, so i had to limp it home.

Daaaaang the skate wheel shifter adds such a nice touch!
Re: simple ae86 build up
probably got cancer today.
anyone that has seen my car up close knows that the paint had crazy cracks in it from a combination of hot sun and the paint being laid on too thick.
the roof and doors were the worst, that is no longer a problem
doors off
found where the roof meets the rear quarter
naked roof
doors
all the paint from both doors
all of the fiberglass panels are ready for primer, chassis still needs a bunch of work.

Yep. Greenville, SC... It's...interesting . At least all the roads are windy and I'm near the mountain passes.
Did you get that strut bar installed? I grabbed the steel 2 point version a while back before t3 had them. It's stark white , but legit - no flexing this thing by hand on car (unlike the others I've had).

thanks billy,
that's actually a pretty heavy compliment considering how excellent your build is.
