The more packing material the better. I have shipped out a ton of stuff over the years, not to mention the parts I used to sell when I owned hidplanet, and its not worth the risk of damaging goods, then having to deal with the fallout. Overpack and you wont have issues. Ship without packing material, and youre at high risk of having a pissed off buyer demanding their money back that you probably already spent.

Dude that's f****d up. I ship alot of stuff all the time. (Bmx parts) Thats just ridiculous. I'd be getting refunded...

Please don't use a shoebox and paper when shipping fragile items internationally.
