I've seen people grind off the logos and bumps to help with rim clearance.

Not my work but, it seems like you can remove the logo. (Don't go too deep... )

Has anybody tried mounting evo 7/8/9 calipers onto the 86 bracket kit that people make to mount fc/fd? Because the evo 7/8/9 calipers are direct bolt on to the FD's so I'm assuming the mounting points are the same locations.

On the FC Calipers... don't grind off the bumps. There is a fluid passage in there. One of guys that bought my brackets did it and had to find another caliper. The FD calipers shouldn't have any problems.
