CF Window Visors..IT HAS BEGUN!!!!

Postby Flipp » Wed May 22, 2013 12:56 pm

hey everyone,

ive posted in a few other threads that asked where to get CF in channel window visors for the AE86. ive been working with Retro-Spec, and sent them my JDM metal window visors. the process has already started for the molds

ill keep posting up some process pics as they come along. these should be ready in a few weeks time, so there may be a GB thread started up afterwards. keep an eye out.
best part, these wont cost $500 plus like you would have to pay for a set from Japan :D
so if your interested, keep checking on this thread for updates and again keep an eye out for the GB.

Hopefully these new ones will be more rigid than ebay. I've had the ebay set for 2 years and they've held up fine and don't flap in the wind, but they're pretty flimsy.

not sure but i don't think those are the in channel ones. description says they need 3M tape to install. plus the ones on ebay like the other guy mention are kinda shitty. ;)

They're in-channel - the channel tab is slightly smaller than oem. The tape is just for good measure and not needed.

I would be interested if the edges are folded and the cf weaves mirror/opposite with left and right side.

From Retro-Spec:

"the weave i think is not a problem and ill look into rolling the edge a bit."

Are they going to offer them with rubber trim for the lower edge like oem? I mainly ask because it looks like theirs will have the little inset channel on the lower edge since they're molding them from the oem visors, and oem visors look odd up close without the trim.

that is great. imo, rolled edges would also provide additional reinforcement or rigidity to the visors, no?
