Overpriced AE86'S?
Overpriced AE86'S?
Let me guess the less miles the more expensive?
What should we pay for an ae86?
Honestly...not most of us want to drift tho, does that matter?

Re: Overpriced AE86'S?
Overpriced is relative. You can pick up a running gts between $3,000-$5,000. Also, ae86s are not all about drifting and Initial D.
- You should not whine about overpricing if you: live with mommy and/or daddy, are not paying rent, not sharing a mortgage, pay for sex, single, married with no kids...
- If you are one the mentioned above and still can't afford a $4,000 gts, you need to: find a better paying job, find a sugar mama, go back to school, finish college, sell drugs, be a hitman, join the mafia...

Great answers.
Or drive around til you see one parked or see a old man driving it. They have the clean stock rollas that sell for cheap! Once in a while.

Yea this is pretty much the best case scenario. No rice, no bad mods, just all stock.
Re: Overpriced AE86'S?
I'd sell my car for $10k, transmission for $2k, engine for $3k, rear diff for $1.5k, interior for $5.5k, rims for $2k, suspension for $1.5k + Initial D tax of $15k.

but he made a comment about having a s2k that will make a ae86 worth $10k

Let's see, half the members bitch about cars being overpriced.
The other bitch about there being no cars to be found at all.
Sounds to me like the prices must be just about right.
Although, what some people are getting for cars with no paint, shredded interiors, mismatched engines that can't pass inspection or run without stumbling...some of it really is hard to believe, but hey, it is what it is.

^Well put.
Patience is key. Wait it out and you'll find decent car for a good price. It took me 6 months to find my current gts. Well worth the wait for complete unmolested car with no mods. It also really helps if the seller isn't a fanboy or enthusiast.

Deuce Cam is right
Patience is key,,,, It took me 3 years to find one at good price,, and i didnt pay, i traded my running vert Fc for a coupe shell..
Took me an year to build, days and nights of reading 20v and Dli threads ,, but overall worth it,,, and i would sell mines for a lot also,, if u dont like it ,,get yurr own 8 6..
If its somthing you really want ,, there should be no limit on prices

Re: Overpriced AE86'S?
So many fanboys looking for ONLY Hatch versions, make me laugh. I've found the prices of decent examples have gone up incredibly over the past 10 years. I paid 1,800 for my GTS a while back, and now people want 3-4k for a shitty SR5.. it's pretty unbelievable. Not to mention, the parts for bumpers and etc. are outrageous. People can blow me before they think I'll pay the money people are asking for a SINGLE bumper skin.
Re: Overpriced AE86'S?
U get what u pay for. If u don't spend that much up front for a nice 86 u gonna spend that in the long run getting it to where u want it to be.

I have a built car for the price people want for a stock GTS with minor bolt-ons, these days. No.
Re: Overpriced AE86'S?
I've never payed more than $300 for an 86. One of them was a GTS shell, the other was a non-running SR5 lol. If you're paying $3k for an ae86, it better be pretty DAMN clean or you live in California.

"I've never payed more than $300 for an 86"
And how much time and money did you sink into it in the first six months?
Even 30 years ago, $300 bought a junker with holes in it and about half the cylinders working. In need of tires.

I think I put a total of $50 to get it running, and another $200 in tires.
Like I said, $3k better buy you a damn good corolla. A friend of mine spend $3500 on her corolla, and it is MINT. Fresh paint, fully loaded, already got coilovers, whiteline everything possible, exhaust, and a rebuilt motor.
Drift tax is getting expensive these days.
