Many people think the zenki gts was offered in just 2 colors, silver and red. However there is a 3rd color they came in. And that color is two tone champagne and black. I've seen some debate on this where people say they are vin swapped sr5s or repaints. But i have seen enough evidence to confirm they were real. Now my theory is that they were a canadian/midwest color option only. It is not uncommon for manufactures to have exclusive colors for different regions of the us. and the majority "like 90%" i've seen for sale are in canada.
Thoughts on this? anyone own one and have pictures? I wonder if there was ever a two tone red/black gts... an all original champagne gts hatch is my dream car. hopefully i snatch one oneday, id much rather have one than my mint fire engine red ae86.

Re: The illusive champagne AE86
I did a quick little search and this is what I came up with.
I work in the parts department at a Toyota dealership, so I used the list provided from our little website / database and cross referenced it with the internet
(List from our database)
3 different websites.
The only common tan-ish color amongst all screen captures is the 4E1, "Light Topaz Metallic".
Unfortunately our database doesn't filter paint codes and options, regardless if its a GTS or SR5 it will list all options for all years. But based on the last picture it is an SR5 option. Even then though, there's no telling how credible any source is. Since these cars are old, everything was printed on paper and manually entered into a database at one time. So its not uncommon for us to find flaws in the database when it comes to older Toyotas.
I would assume the 4E1 is an SR5 option, which could explain why they're so rare. Back then the Corolla was just another cheap Toyota. I don't imagine any owner back in the day baby-ing an SR5 vs a GTS.
This doesn't take into account the different options offered overseas, either.

It was not that tan of a color, in fact it's mostly silver. I just heard people refer to it as champagne so that's what i'm doing. Here is a picture of one.
What further proves they existed is most have GT-S decals with appropriate patina.

Re: The illusive champagne AE86
oh, that? Thats just the standard 2C5 Silver/Black.
There's a hatchback GTS AE86 here in Lexington with that exact paint scheme.
I totally missed the part two-tone part yesterday when you first posted. The 2C5 was the only two-tone color with black that was offered for the GTS here in the US. The other two tone colors were the 2X5 (Lt Blue/Md Blue) and 23D (Silver/Gray).

Re: The illusive champagne AE86
To me it looks like a slightly darker copperish gray than the originals zenki color. I have a Gray GT-S zenki and that gray is stunningly bright. Maybe it's just a optical illusion because of the black. However look at the color (3C7) "Rose Gray Metallic" and compare it to the AE86 i posted, that seems to be exactly the "Champagne" color i've seen.

Re: The illusive champagne AE86
I think that 3C7 was one of the colors offered overseas because its not showing up on the database here at work, but its found on the internet. And it doesn't seem to be offered in a two-tone scheme either.

^Looks very similar. Found this video, quality is obviously bad but the color is definitely NOT the standard zenki silver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdTnvEf_jnA

Yea that looks like it, that color isn't listed on the AE86 paint chart...

Pretty sure that picture AND the one in the video is the 2C5 silver/black I had mentioned before. And yes, it is on the paint chart.
Quick google search confirms this as well.
Jondee's first picture confirms my statement on the 3C7 not being offered here in a two-tone application. I think what is confusing is the different lighting in each picture. There was only one two tone silver/black color ever offered here in the US for GTS corollas, and that was the 2C5 color. Certain shades of sunlight must give it that gold "champagne" color you are referring to.

I've never seen a white USDM GTS. Plenty of white SR5's though.

That's what I figured. Such an odd restriction though.
