Why did you sell your 86?

Postby ericteti » Thu Jul 09, 2015 10:15 am

Hey guys!

I'm always seeing posts about people being on the second, third, forth, etc ae86. Why did you sell yours in the first place? Why repeatedly? I'm sure theres some cool stories!

went through 2...... first one(purchased in 1994), got a little rusty AND then got rear-ended(1998), stripped it. 2nd one(1999) I drove 90 miles to fly 400 miles, to pick it up - and drive 400 miles back home with it..... When I built my smallport, I didn't want to butcher the original car so I bought an E7(2009).....

The E7... that is just about perfect

Never sold my first one! Selling it has cross my mind a few times, but I still regret letting go of my 84 Rabbit GTi, so I just think of that regret and it goes away.

No build thread for this one Ronny? Your builds are always inspiring

i have sold 5 and regret selling all 5.
my last one was clean, bought as an auto kouki sr5 coupe from the original owners grandson.
she had her head pulled off and was left beside the garage until i passed by and offered $650 with delivery to base.

5spd conversion, latemodel largeport, new gaskets, mikuni 44's, some msd parts and pieces from a gts made her enjoyable.

Sorry to hear that, mideng.

Has it been a while since you last posted or am I imagining that?

First one I sold because I wanted an Anniversary edition AE86 because it came with the underpinnings and interior of the GTi (GT-S for you USDM peeps). I modded its 4A(C) with a reground cam, 3T valve springs, home made header, TRD side draught kit and Centrforce clutch.

Then sold that for another which had its 4A(C) swapped for a 7AF carbed.

Sold that for a gennie USDM GT-S and cammed and supercharged its bluetop.

Sold that to finance my kid's college years.

At least, it's going towards a good cause.
