Introduction (Apologies if this doesn't belong here)

Postby mvrcello » Mon Jun 02, 2014 10:05 pm

Hello Everyone, My name is Marcello. I'm 19 years old living in good ol' Texas.

I was introduced to this forum by someone who commented on a post i made on the forum near me called Houston240sx. I was going on about the 86 on more of an S Chassis forum, but it was the only one i could find that was more of a LOCAL forum, so i figured the members would know people around who would know more about the 86, or could help me get my hands on one.
That being said, you could pretty much assume i don't have one.. yet. As much as i would LOVE a gts, An sr5 would do me just fine. I don't mind the -6 horsepower of the sr5 one bit, and from what I've looked up, the 4ac is a good starting point for people who aren't too savvy under the hood. I don't plan on really doing any drifting or anything until I'm a bit more stable as I just really got a job, and I'm just beginning to pick myself up from rock bottom, but i won't get too into that. I understand that parts for the 86 are hard to find (At least in my area, from what I've been told) but that doesn't bother me too much, really. Again, i don't plan on driving too hard, I just want a rwd 5 speed. I like the feel. The only car of the sort that I've been behind was an old neighbors s14, and i really can't describe why i loved the feeling so much. It honestly might be just the feeling of shifting manually since that was my first time driving standard. Right now I'm taking a crummy old Suzuki esteem to work and back, but hell, it's getting me there safely. My aunt was kind enough to let me use it, but i want to have my own car that i actually paid for. I feel like i would appreciate a car more knowing i paid it off on my own, so if anyone in san antonio, TX area has anything crowding their lot, feel free to inbox me details.

Again I'm sorry if this isn't the place to post introductions, i couldn't really find that thread if there is one.

Glad to be on the forums. I hope to meet some of you sometime. I've been lurking your photos for a while before i registered today.

money pit... haha
technotoytuning.com has some cool stuff... not to familiar with san Antonio area, I just know that north texas / Oklahoma area is a huge car scene area... also Houston has a metric f*ck ton of car graveyards yards... club4ag is mainly used by people from cali. hachiroku.net is mainly full of Cascadia folk. but I guess if I had to pick, club4ag has never really let me down with parts. 86 parts are really not that hard to find, its just that you need to have the money. also if youre just getting into cars in general, never ever go low quality cheap on tools or parts. make sure to do a lot of research all over the internet about any mods or info first.
the ae86 is an amazing car man and everyone on this site will tell you the same thing. happy hunting.
a bimmer driver once told me that my 4ag looked like a loaf of bread.

Welcome to our humble and sometimes dysfunctional forum.
In here you'll find a mega ton of useful, and sometimes not so useful information about our beloved AE86.
It looks like you've made up your mind in getting an AE86, so here's a few words of caution:

-Be ready to sacrifice a whole lot of your precious HOURS/WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS/PERSONAL DAYS/SICK HOURS/YOUR LIFE
-Be ready to lose your hair, develop allergies, and provide useful unhealthy state of your well being due to stress.
-Be prepared to spend a whole lot of MONEY.
-Be ready to deal, and solve car problems.
-Be ready to get your hands dirty, I mean REALLY DIRTY.
-Be ready to be stressed out parking your AE86 on the street, and worrying whether or not its gonna be there when you get back.

*Keep in mind, not necessarily in that order. But feel free to be in liberty to add to the above list, and share your experiences with us.
Happy hunting and may the luck of finding a rust free-clean title AE86 ever be in your Battle Royale favor!

Tell us when you get your car. :)
There shouldn't be a day that goes by where you don't learn something new.
