Never disclosed a specific location... You're too paranoid. I see a couple 86s around my city but I'm usually going another direction. Oh we'll...

It's a losing battle.
I can guarantee 98% of members here dislike the thought of having a "spotted" thread.

I'm going to side with the OP. Super vague. A work plaza in LA where I work. For all we know, the guy was there meeting someone one time only. This could literally be anywhere. And as I've said before, corollas rarely start when you want them to let alone for a theif.

Re: Spotted Coupe in Chino - We should hang out
this doesn't relate to this post but...
doesn't matter if the car starts or not...
cars get taken if it starts or not.
I know handful of people that have gotten their cars taken
with the kill switch on, ecu taken off, fuel pump relay taken out...
if they are gonna take it, they are gonna take it.
half the time they don't even turn your car on ANYWAYS.
lot of old school cars have been getting jacked lately...
some dudes corolla got jacked recently up north
2am FRONT OF HIS HOUSE...
its cool you spotted another corolla in your area but come on...
I know everybody agrees here that you don't want someone
posting you out on a forum...
if hes in your area your gonna run into him again one way or another.
just introduce each other in person.
not on a forum...
ppl troll on forums remember.
so hide your plates and stuff if you post pictures of your car.
if it gets posted by someone else from a meet or show or whatever
theres nothing you can do, but always take precautions guys

Re: Spotted Coupe in Chino - We should hang out
That corolla up in NorCal got jacked for the knock off longchamps on it and was found only missing the wheels. They suspect it may have been someone they know as they knew all the owners "kill switch" methods. If I had a Honda, I would be worried. These are corollas, pretty small community. Most of the corollas I've seen stolen have been inside jobs or very suspicious.
If they want it, they'll take it. Get yourself some good insurance and it won't matter. Most insurance companies cover aftermarket parts, like if your wheels get stolen, they cut you a check. Good coverage is better than any attempt you make at making the car impossible to steal. Dude, the insurance companies don't care what car you have. If you want your 1985 Corolla insured for $50,000 they will do it and you will pay the premium to have it insured for $50,000. Value x Amount of Risk=Premium.

Re: Spotted Coupe in Chino - We should hang out
do you have premium coverage on your corolla??
other than having "TORC" car, whos gonna put premium coverage on their corolla??
come on lets be realistic here.
even if you had premium coverage on ur car, I still wouldn't want it getting jacked...
lets say you got it all back from ur insurance company and made another corolla to look nice as your last one.
they gonna come take it again anyways...
it just not that corolla up north that had gotten taken away. there are lot of old school cars being taken in the valley recently.
corollas to celicas to supras and etc...
lots cars that get taken usually get "scoped out" for awhile before they jack it.
when its a nice old school car with good looking parts on it, they spy on it for awhile before they make a move...

If you have more than basic liability (15/30/5), this stuff is covered. It's part of your comprehensive insurance that you choose as an option. This isn't "show car/classic car insurance". This is insurance every company offers.
"Covers your vehicle, and other vehicles (in limited scenarios) you may be driving for losses resulting from incidents other than collision. For example, comprehensive insurance covers damage to your car if it is stolen; or damaged by flood, fire, or animals. It pays to fix your vehicle less the deductible you choose. To keep your premiums low, select as high a deductible as you feel comfortable paying out of pocket. This coverage is not required by a state, but your lender or lease company may require it."
Yes, I have this. No, it is not expensive. This is the way I see it:
1.)You have basic liability. You make your car "theft-proof" with switches and removing things. It gets stolen anyway. You get no money for your loss. Any debt you have on the car, is yours to deal with. This happened to me. Speaking from experience.
2.)Pay the extra $30/month for some comprehensive coverage. Have a $500 deductible and take as many pictures of your car and the parts on it as possible. You add kill switches and a detachable wheel and ect ect. It gets stolen. Show the pictures to your agent with your receipts and your list of mods. They give you STREET VALUE of your car, not some Kelly Blue Book $200. You get a check and build a new car. You will never be so grateful there are fanboy tofu corollas for sale for $15000.
Both examples were stolen. Difference is guy #2 paid the extra $30 and gets a new car where guy #1 get's a sympathy Facebook comment and now takes the bus to work. No car is theft-proof, people will find it, but if they do it's best to have your investment protected. And have a shotgun to welcome any challengers with.
Theft aside, with basic liability, if someone does a hit and run on your car while it's parked in the street and totals the car, unless you catch the person that did it you will not get paid. You have no one to sue for the damages. Again, this is where a good comprehensive plan pays off. Basic liability will not cover this damage. You had all your theft stuff on, but it wasn't even stolen. You're still S.O.L.
I'm just trying to get across the point that a good insurance policy is worth more than anyone's best attempt at making your Corolla impossible to steal and it's something everyone can afford and should do.

We better go ahead and ban everyone who lists their location....you know for their own safety. On a serious note, I live in Glendale AZ, and will be getting some Starbucks at 59th ave and Bell rd if anyone wants to come steal my car while I wait for a caramel frappuchino.

While were on the subject, I went ahead & parked that ugly rust bucket truck back in front of my car. You know, for cheap insurance,,,& it seems to be working. I took an advice from a fellow member here in regards to "make it difficult for thieves".

yea I know that's they point your trying to get across.
that's great I have nothing against the idea of better insurance.
if u wanna do it and you have no problem with money go ahead.
im just saying that if you take the precautions and stay lowkey
you wont have to do all this extra insurance stuff to prevent your car from getting taken.
most of the cars that get taken usually are the ones that go to lot of shows and car meets
I know people that goto just meet in the valley to scope out cars...
its shady but what can you do...
it sucks your car had gotten jacked before and im not saying ur a "show" guy that goes to meet a lot either cause I dunno if you do
but staying lowkey and out radar you wont have to spend extra on your insurance and etc...
for hit and runs and what not, that's a different story...

Re: Re: Spotted Coupe in Chino - We should hang out
I'd rather have better insurance, it covers more then auto theft.
