Ported Smallport Head

Postby Crownvicman289 » Sat Mar 22, 2014 9:59 am

Since this one's buried in my other thread, I'm making one just for it. I've got a smallport head I ported way back in 2007. I also had the valves cut then too, ran the car for a year and a half then tore it down and came back to 'Murica. Here I've used it for all of 30 miles, so it's still pretty damn fresh and the valve seals are only those 30 miles old! Head's been shaved a total of .017" in its life that I know of and the deck is nearly freshly planed save for a few chunks of paint still sticking from the TRD gasket. I had it tanked at a transmission shop and it's immaculately clean. The intake was gasket matched, the ports hit with some 120 grit, the dividers knife-edged, and the throats were blended. They had a pronounced lip before I started. The exhaust side I hogged out to match the now-discontinued TRD exhaust gasket as I did with my header too. I blended the throats here too, knife edged the dividers, and tried to get the exhaust ports as smooth as possible. They're not shiny, but noticeably smoother than the intake side. For the combustion chambers I removed the quench to quell detonation and simultaneously unshrouded the valves. I also deburred the head to aid in the return flow of oil and just make it more aesthetically pleasing. $500 with stock cams, lifters/buckets, and HKS springs installed. You don't have a choice on the cams, it's the only way to guarantee the shims and buckets stay in place during shipping. Email/paypal d_mozader@hotmail.com.

Here's how it sits now.
