**GOOD INFO 20v Guys!!!**

Postby NostalgicHiro20v » Sat Mar 16, 2013 2:47 pm

I'm an AE86 owner of 15 years now. I've been through various engine & tranny combos & tried many parts. Recently got into my first 20v Blacktop. It's been a learning process undoubtedly. It's a great engine & suits my driving style great. My most recent lesson has been in dealing with replacing the alternator. I initially struggled with locating one & even looked into the option of rebuilding the unit. When I went to get it rebuilt the guy asks me what year corolla it's for. I tell him it's for a '96. He brings out the same exact unit only with a slightly larger pulley. So just to inform you guys, there is no need to search for a new unit overseas. They can easily be obtained for less than it would cost for a new one from Toyota.

i'm pretty sure most people just use 16v ones, which are also readily available.

Most probably do go with the 16v alternator and slightly modified bracket but thanks for the info none-the-less Nostalgic.
