Silvertop ECU

Postby BlueAngel » Thu Aug 27, 2020 6:33 pm

I am pretty sure some one of the experts here may have run through this already.

I am in search of a Silvertop ECU. I cannot recall the part number that came originally with the engine.
I heard from somebody that those ECU are unique for each engine and they don't interchange. Is that true?

If not true, what would be a good ECU part number that I could purchase?
what is the difference between the 89661-12770 and the 12771?

Any information will be very appreciated.

thank you all in advance for your response.

I believe those two are interchangeable, the 71 is just newer. They need to be marked MT (manual transmission). I've read that the difference between the early and late st ecu's is that the later ones will support cooling fans but I have not tested this. If you do buy one be sure to open it up and check for leaking or swelled capacitors which are cheap to replace. Others here may have more information.

Hey did you ever get your air conditioner compressor running?

Rick,
Thank you for your response.
I will keep that in mine if I need to search for another one.
I ended up having the original one that came with that engine repaired, few capacitors were damaged and a line connecting a resistor was burned out. They reconnected and replaced all capacitors in the board.
The original part number is 89661-1A190
I hope it works. I already replaced the entire wiring harness.
And yes, the compressor is working perfect. The pulley was a little bigger (I guess because the part number differed a little) they techs swapped the pulley with the one from my old compressor and it is cooling well.
Thanks :)
