Anybody ever try putting a 4age in a Tercel? Lord love me, I'm looking at an '87 Tercel with what looks like a 4ac in it, and wondering what a4age would do. Would the drive train hold it if it wasn't pushed too hard? All this is pictures so far. I don't believe it's 4wd.

I've seen some earlier FWD Tercels with "A" series engines, the later had "E" series engines. So I'm sure it's possible to have an "A" series. If it is an "A" engine get an engine and trans from an FWD Corolla, of course with electronics, and it should be a bolt in job. I believe the AWD Tercels were 4A powered. Could be wrong. What does the sticker on the hood state??

All I've seen so far is photos. The engine is longitudinal, so I assumed rwd. I don't know the various iterations of the Tercel. I'll try attaching a link to the ad.

3E engine. That trans is pretty weak too.

Isn't that the 1.5l 3A?

By the year it should be 3E, If it is an A series a 4a would bolt up. If it is a 3A it would be easy to get the AWD gear into the Tercel.

Couldn't get the pics up. If it is a 3A a 4A should bolt up, but that trans is supposed to be really weak, like in a few hard limiter bounce shifts and things go awry. Same with the AWD trans.
