Anyone care to critique this hone job? Kinda new to this and wanted to take a crack at it. Using an electic hand drill with 800 max rpm, about 1 up and down stroke per second (pretty much as fast as i could move it) using generous amount of 10w30 conventional oil as lube per FlexHone recommendation, for about 5-8 seconds per cylinder, with a 240 grit FlexHone bead style bottle brush hone thing, whatever you wanna call it.

Side by side with honed and un honed cylinders

After finishing I washed out the cylinders with liberal amounts of hot soapy water multiple times, gave it a good rinse, wiped the block dry, then 4-5 passes with clean oiled up rags until the rags came out looking the same way they went in, clean. Then a final light coat of WD40 to prevent any surface rust.

How's it look to you?

As above hone looks ok. WD40 possibly removed any residual moisture but you would be better off coating the bores with engine oil to prevent surface rust.

Hows it feel with your fingernail? Smooth, barely feel a notch or hop skip jump snap scrape like a ona file or grind/oil stone? Are the rags/paper towels still leaving a debris trail of lint, then it's too rough?

OST - thanks for the reading material, those links were very informative, I had read through the engine hone website info before I bought my flex hone from them (how I decided on the 240 grit) very good info none the less, only thing I didn't do that would have been nice was finishing with a nylon brush to knock down some of the microscopic hone peaks for av quick ring seat. I think it should be okay as I'm just using OEM Toyota rings.

No debris left behind in the cylinders, incredibly smooth to the touch despite the pictures looking pretty rough. Can't feel anything with my fingernails, feels like glass.

Thanks for the feedback fellas! I really appreciate it. Hopefully this is able to help someone considering this for themselves in the future.
