Thanks
I've personally always ran Honda synthetic blend 10w30 with Toyota "xxxF1" filter. Most people run thicker though. Are you using this engine in a RWD corolla? If so, you use the 16v RWD thermostat housing.
On the BT 20v I'm building right now:
-RWD 16v alternator and alternator bracket
-RWD 16v waterpump w/ 16v pulley
-RWD 16v T3 crank pulley
-RWD 16v thermostat housing w/ AE86 thermostat and AE86 outlet neck on thermostat housing
-The thermostat I have drilled four 1/8" holes in for cold start bypass
-JSP style mod to the 20v cylinder head. Coolant ports cut out and blocked off
-TRD 16v headgasket
-AE92 16v oil pump
-AE86 16v timing belt tensioner
-AE101 timing belt
I've converted the water system to 16v AE86 and the timing belt to AE101 style as the AE111 tensioner usually takes a dump and bends valves. People complain about doing 16v coolant flow direction on a 20v, I've been running it on several different engines for years, daily driven and tracked, never had a problem. All these parts I've listed can be bought right here in the USA from aftermarket or direct from any Toyota dealer. Tally up the cost of a new timing belt, tensioner, oil pump, and water pump for the 20v and this is about 1/4 the price.
I have a YouTube video devoted to the BT 20v vacuum routing. Search "DIY BT 20v vacuum routing". It will be the video by 'HASportAE86'.
