Why are alot of n1 motors 16v?

Postby Gabes86 » Thu Feb 18, 2016 10:13 am

hey guys so why is it when I watch videos from hot version with n1,2 and group a 86s they usually have 16v s instead of 20vs. Is there something I'm missing that makes the 16v better for racing or is it just a traditional thing to keep a 16v?

development... development.... development!

N2 is essentially an F/A engine.... some USA F/A builders have built 260+hp from standard stroke.... dont know of any 20V with standard stroke making as much.

before, the N2 rules stated that only a 1.6L 16v 4AGE were allowed to be used, to keep in with the tradition of the original N2 series (there was no 20v yet). but in recent years, they've relaxed the rules and have allowed 1.8L strokers and whatnot to the annual race.
