check engine 4age blue top (Code 6)

Postby hjmoncada » Wed Jan 06, 2016 2:59 pm

i friends.

I have a problem with the check engine
checking engine is always on
but low rpm 500 is off
but if I go up to over 4500 rpm shuting off automatically
but when he returns to between 500 and 4500 rpm check the engine on again

that could be the problem?

Hi and welcome to club4AG :)

Have you tried to see if there are any fault codes stored in the ECU ?
To do that you have to short the two pins of the diagnostic plug with
a piece of wire, turn the ignition on, and read how many times the
CEL flashes.

Welcome to the club.

Like jondee said, have you gone through basic diagnostic procedure? Is it stock? What modifications?

I made the bridge with a cable.
engine checking flashes 6 times and turns off.
delete the codes stored in the ECU and bridge again
flashes 6 times and this approximately three seconds off

but always in less than 500 RPM engine checking off
and when I step 4500 RPM turns off
I mean between 500 -4500 is always on the check engine
I will make a video link and will share them

sorry my english still in learning

For an AE86 error code 6 is:

Code 6 RPM signal.
No Ne, G signal (engine revolution sensor) signal to ECU within
several seconds after engine is cranked. No Ne, G signal (engine revolution sensor)
signal to ECU within several seconds after engine reaches 1,000rpm.

Places to look:
Distributor circuit.
Distributor.
Igniter.
Starter signal circuit.
ECU.

I'd start by checking all the wiring around your distributor and igniter. Look
for broken or frayed wires, damaged plugs, shorts, burned wires. In particular
look at the wires just where they connect to the distributor which is where they
move around the most.
