Picked up a very needy '86 MR2, and I'm replacing the clutch. The clip that holds the throw out bearing onto the fork seems like it should snap on more securely.
The ends of the clip are inside the fork, but there seems to be no way it clips over nice and flush like it does in the box without the fork. Does this look OK, or am I missing something? I've spent about an hour trying to make it better, but fork in or fork out, I haven't even gotten one side to go like I would think it should.

Don't know if it is the correct clip, as there seem to be several
different versions used.

Re: Shifter Fork Clip Question
Thanks. I don't think there is but one for the 1985-86 years.
Anyway, the Haynes manual had a picture and I played with it for another 30 or 40 minutes. Finally decided it must be right.
Tranny goes back in today, if all goes well.

Re: Shifter Fork Clip Question
when I just did the one on my C52 it was also weird putting on it but it was the firsttime I had ever done one but I thought they would clip better. it seemed really half-assed way to me and it wasn't even easy to get on, like it shouldn't fit but it does.
but yea, it definitely didn't seem like it was correct but it obviously works fine.
this was using a basic exidy clutch kit.

It's back in, and I believe all is great. But I trashed my thermostat housing drain plug trying to flush the coolant. :b
Waiting on parts before I can test drive it.
