I have a 1995 AE101 4AGZE I will turn RWD for installation in a Ford 105E Anglia. I would appreciate sensible feedback on my intended approach. Project is on a budget. Trans will be T50 from AE86 with 20 valve flywheel and clutch. Will this set up be strong enough for street car that will be driven sensibly? Car will weigh about 800 kg. Aiming for about 185 hp. Engine will be stock internally with stock EFI/ECU. I will fit AE86 water plumbing and intend using AE86 inlet manifold using adapter from techno toy tuning. How well do these actually match the ports? I intend mounting a SC14 blower from a Previa low on the left hand side under exhaust and running air via front mount Intercooler. I will replicate factory bypass plumbing. Not interested in going turbo. Appreciate any comments. I have had a good Google but not found much useful info. Thanks. Phil.

I'm doing a similar thing but going turbo.

My car is a KP60 Starlet. In the UK things like a T50 gearbox and RWD inlet manifold are very hard to find so the word 'Budget' doesn't really apply.

A RWD water pump is also impossible to find here so I just made an alloy pipe section to run from the back of the stock FWD pump

And had a thermostat housing welded onto the radiator


Not sure why you would need a 20v flywheel and clutch though ? I'm just using a stock FWD one and it's fine, had to change the hydraulic clutch for a cable set up but that was it !

I wouldn't waste my time with an SC14 personally. If you insist on going SC just use the SC12 and all stock plumbing. The gains from switching to the SC14 don't justify the cost and effort.

Hey Phil... theoretically you will be putting nearly 50% more torque
through the 20V clutch than it would have seen behind a 20V engine.
I'd be inclined to look for an uprated pressure plate... 20-30% better than
stock should be fine. Doesn't need to be anything super special if you are
going to drive the car sensibly. Got a flat cap for those Sunday drives

The 20v fw is 215mm and the same design as 215mm 16v clutches so you can use any of the shelf 215mm 4A kits like Exedy, ACT, etc.
I am running my turbo BT on a 200mm flywheel with an ACT sport perf disk and PP. Basically the 200mm version of this. http://matrixgarage.com/products/act-sp ... -kit-212mm
Even with my Azenis 615s there is no clutch slip on hard launches. I would say that clutch will have no problem with any amount of power you can make on an SC12/14.

Been away all weekend. Have got T50 and spare 20 valve plus a complete ae86 4AGE plus most of the bits to make another. Need to get adapter (T3) to adapt ae86 inlet manifold to GZE - keen to know how well these match the ports before I get one. Thought is to fit AE86 alternator mount with 20 vv alt I have spare plus ae86 water plumbing. Mounting blower on LHS will be easier for front mount intercooler plumbing so I figure may as well fit SC14 at same time or even baby Eaton? Have got pretty much everything but the blower and inlet adapter. No idea what sort of clutch is on the 20 valve. Phil
