Is 20V motor interference or non-Interference

Postby Davegt27 » Sun Aug 31, 2014 6:35 pm

Is 20V motor interference or non-Interference something I have been wondering about for some time?

I have a 5AGZE and it would be neat if I could slap a 20V head on it that is if I did not have to change pistons

Any thoughts could it be done

The silvertop is non-interference, the blacktop is interference. ;)

You definitely should change the pistons, while the 5AGE only has 4 cutouts (from my memory) and the 20V has 5 cutouts in the pistons.
Check my 4AGE 20V BT teardown, rebuild and transplantation over here --> http://club4ag.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3382

What block do people use on a 5age?

on AE101 block with 16v heads, normal silvertop pistons are fine.

They will run, far from ideal however. If you really wanted to run a 20v head with the 5A-GE stroker kit send the 5A-GE piston and a standard 20v piston to JE/CP/Wiseco etc and say you want the 20v crown on the stroker type pistons with the shorter pin height,

In short you can get away with it depending on cams and timing, but it's a fairly dodgy way of doing it.

Its a long story but I bought a 101GZE that turned out to be bad so one thing lead to another I used 101GZE oil squirter block and put these into the block

its set up for zero deck (that means the pistons come up to the top of the cyl) but the pistons are dished pistons and this is a supercharged setup
