Silvertop 20v Code 14

Postby BodineJCS » Wed Jun 04, 2014 6:48 pm

My Silvertop powered Mr2 stalled out up town and had to have it towed home dammit ... It would start for 5 seconds and then die , then it wouldn't fire at all for 5 minutes ... Then start for 5 seconds and die ...Computer shows code 14 ...No IGF Signal ... I have doubles of most parts for this car so I tried Coil and Igniter and it will do the same thing with those parts . I have checked continuity on all involved wires and my power sources and grounds . Is there anything anybody can add to help diagnose this problem ... Its sure pointing to the ECU ... This happened to me last year except in that instance , my computer was dead , not throwing codes so I sourced out a ECU from Japan and its been running great for about a year until this happened . Interestingly enough , I left the car overnight with the battery discoed and this morning , I couldn't get it to run at all , not even the 5 second its running and then dies routine that it did the day before . ECU still throwin out the code 14 though ... Whadda you guys think besides Sell It ?

Pop the lid off the ecu and check for capacitors leaking onto the board.
I had a few leaking in mine, got them replaced and the engine idles better.

Thanks for that , my first ecu had that problem but this one is very clean inside , no sign of the caps leaking ... Strange
