Water Outlet Question
Water Outlet Question
Can anyone tell me why this is happening:
I thought I had the right rear outlet from the cooling guide (https://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/1 ... ing-guide/), but the damn thing gets in the way of the EGR pipe.
Please don't tell me to just delete the EGR. I don't have a chum in the smog business who'd overlook something like that.
My guess is this outlet might be for the MAP configuration, but that cooling guide doesn't address that.
Please help! So close!

Re: Water Outlet Question
God, living in cali must be so annoying lol. In Oregon, DEQ would have no idea.
That doesn't look right. I'll look at my pics of before EGR delete.
By the way, isn't rollaclub an Aussie site? To my knowledge, ADM didn't get EGR like Japan and NZ.

Re: Water Outlet Question
USDM outlets have a 90 degree bend for the pipe flange. Yours looks like it goes straight up, so not what you need.

Can anyone confirm?

Re: Water Outlet Question
That is definitely it. Be careful with the vacuum things, they can break pretty easily when pulling the engine in and out.

Re: Water Outlet Question
you got a JDM one. those sensors are on the front water neck on USDM models.
The temptation to trade is real. Just to clean the wires up at the front of the engine. I already deleted the EGR

Haha, I'd totally be interested in a trade if you give into that temptation. Thanks Mr Jerk!

Yes, 100% watch those vacuum nipples! Actually, in the pic, it's broken lol.
I'd trade mine too, but I'm finally close to driving mine. Sorry man.
You could always have someone weld two bends on the EGR pipe..
I'll buy it off ya if you find one though.

My vac nipples are broken worse than the other guys. I never had them hooked up. just bypassed them and went straight from EGR, and w/e else it went to.
I was actually planning to check if the sensors in the front water thing would just screw into the rear water outlet.
Those nipple things are expensive, if you can find them. At least they were when i was thinking about replacing them and get everything to OEM stock... I have since abandoned that idea. lol

Re: Water Outlet Question
I always figured if you could source those Bi-metallic switch valves, they'd be REAL fun to properly torque on lol. Probably would have to use crow's feet torque extensions.

Re: Water Outlet Question
You generally use a deep 6-point socket with a slot for the vacuum pipes on the switch.
Kind of like the deep sockets used for O2 sensors to clear the wiring.
HTH.

Kind of a random question, but how long are those two bolts? Holding the plate onto the head? I have a bad coolant leak back there, and I don't think they've ever been taken off before so I'm anticipating on them snapping. They look to be the same size as the two bolts holding on the water outlet on the front of the motor (which I snapped when changing my water pump).
Side note, I still have all my EGR junk hooked up so I can snap a picture of what it all looks like if needed.
[I have no idea what I'm doing]

Hmm, I can't recall exactly. About 2 inches at most. Maybe an inch and a half. I already installed my new rear coolant neck (yay)
Pic for other folks reference

Re: Water Outlet Question
There is enough room to remove the bolts and rear water neck while installed in a AE86 engine bay , its even more simple if there is no egr pipe, regardless you be able to remove it .
