Kp60 starlet with T50 gearbox

Getting stuck in with my engine conversion.

Got the 4age engine and T50 gearbox in, only taken rough measurements but the original starlet prop shaft looks like it's the right length.

I just need to get the right splined part onto it, anyone done this before, was hoping not to have to get it welded ?

Looking at the pics I'd have some doubt that you can mix and match.
Incidentally, neither of those universals looks like a AE86 one, as the
AE86 caps were staked rather than held with circlips.

Having circlips does mean the universal can be pulled apart, but again
it does not look like the caps are the same diameter, or the yokes the
same size. Even the driveshaft tubes look to be different diameters.
AFAIK the center cross that fits into the caps always has the same
diameter caps on all four ends. So if the caps are different diameters,
no interchange is possible.

Better to take the parts and some length measurements to a driveshaft
shop (4WD shops are usually good) and see what they can do for you.

Thanks, had a proper measure up today, it's going to be taken to a specialist.

Needs welding and therefore balancing.

I only presumed it was a AE86 gearbox and prop shaft end. It actually came out if a kit car !

What other Toyotas would run this RWD gearbox then ? Just curious that's all.

This is a 4AGE with a T-50 gearbox... actually, it looks like 4AGZE that has
been converted to RWD layout and fitted with a N.A. intake ?? But the T-50
will bolt up to any 4A block.



The main identifiers are the aluminum gearbox casing is split longitudinally,
and the bell housing is a separate item that bolts to the gearbox.

I believe the T-50 was also fitted behind other Toyota engines... Wiki says
these ones...

1982 Corona with 3A engine
1983 Corona with 1S/3T-E engine
1981 TA40, 1983 Carina with 3A/2T engine
1983 Celica with 1S engine
1975-1979 Corolla with 2TC engine (shorter shifter in tail shaft in this version)
1980-1982 Corolla with 3TC engine

Jondee, as you really are a wealth of knowledge, you may be able to advise me again about this gearbox, in the picture you posted, by the output shaft, you can see the plate has been removed where the gear stick goes.

Now my gearbox is in, it's a tightfit and I'm going to struggle to fill it using the filling hole,

Can I fill the gearbox with fluid by pouring it into that hole where the gear stick should be ?

There you go Everything you need to know is buried
in the pages of club4AG somewhere... you just have to dig.
And the answer should have been... yes you can fill thru
the shifter hole, just don't try to push the oil in too fast.
