Te72 transmission bell housing question

Postby Notorious408 » Mon Sep 23, 2013 10:35 pm

So I have an 81 te72 I got a full 5 speed assembly out of an 82 te72 wagon. I was wondering are the bell housings different between the 81 and 82? the transmission doesn't seem to want to line up against the block and it's really frustrating me. Are they different or am I doing something wrong?

81 and 82 should be the same engine... so it should fit....

now if you got the tranmission from a 1983 model... then the engines ARE different and so you will need to find the appropriate bell housing

Building a great engine takes knowing the end... before you begin :ugeek:

Hmmm idk what's goin on then. The tranny is lined up to the splines and everything there's just a huge gap between where the bellhousing ends and where the block begins and the bolts are too short to start threading
