Re: Spare interior parts for sale - NY

I don't know if there was a color change, I think it is the same "dark charcoal gray" that is nearly black in my '85. No cracks, no chips, but a couple of scuffs and wear signs it is in very good condition but it is from a used car. The part # is 8813-12080 2 or 588k1-12080 both are molded...

Re: Spare interior parts for sale - NY

Twotoe- Answered in PM, it may already be sold. Grant- THANK YOU! I knew that looked familiar. Since the screws under my glove box are stripped out, maybe I'll put a couple of nuts on this one and swap it in. Or at least, have something "up here" that I can look at in full daylight, to pic...

PS = Power Steering
almost a;lways bundled with
PB = Power Brakes

Both almost always written with a slash: P/S, P/B.

Re: Are there rare 1986 corolla Gt-s?

EVERY 85-87 GT-S was a rare car. Toyota was busy selling MR2s for way above list price, and the MR2 production line got a lot of the equipment that would have been used for the GT-S, and stole all the publicity. By example, in 1985 the GT-S was "on allocation" for the entire US. The NY-NJ-...

Re: WTB: hatch quater window clips

Usually the auto body shop supply stores, and the auto glass stores, have clips to fit everything. They should be able to look it up in a parts book but if you can show them a picture to match, all the better.

Re: Ae86 roll cage

FWIW, if you are buying a cage I'm assuming that is for track use. Check with the governing authority for the events that you pan to run in, to make sure the cage meets their specs. They're not all the same, and finding out you've got the wrong cage after it is done could ruin the day.

Re: Removing 4ag. Also transmission drain plug?

Actually the upper hole is the FILL hole, and fill level hole. The lower hole is the DRAIN hole. It really is possible to fill by the upper hole, easy if you put a $2 vinyl tube on the bottle and hold the bottle to the side of the car, above the level of the fill hole. That way you can't spill trann...

Re: Nothing is ever truely lost (C4AG Archive)

It isn't a question of co-operating. they just don't render any help, because they don't really want to know who or how the archives are being used. Their reply was that the files are there, have a good time, goodbye. I would have thought they could help out a bit, i.e. just clarifying a good downlo...

Re: Nothing is ever truely lost (C4AG Archive)

i tried a web site snatcher last week, stopped it at 10GB of downloads as it grabs the archive site plus every ad link that appeared on every page. Ugh. But Moto is aware the archive exists. The problem is, trying to go into the archive (the archive.org folks will not participate at all) and finding...

Spare interior parts for sale - NY

Some years ago my car was stoeln & partly stripped, and I scrounged all the interior parts I could find. Still have a number of them, most in great condition. The AC control shroud, someone tried to open out, it needs some filing/sanding on the edges. But it will be first come first serve, picku...

Re: Oil everywhere

kona, when the timing belt snaps on a 4AGE there is no damage from intereference or other issues. The engine is a low-performance conservative build (unlike Honda) so if the belt snaps and the valves rattle around with no timing, they'll still never hit the pistons. Good old fashioned obsolete engin...

Re: Oil everywhere

toasty, I'm not sure which cover you mean but would suggest you just wipe it down and put a piece of metal tape or duct tape over it, then just don't hit the tape full force with the spray. If that's where the oil is coming out, that will also temporarily stop the mess. The metal tape (aluminum or s...

Re: Oil everywhere

If there's so much oil that he can't tell where it is coming from, the next step is NOT to fix anything. The next step is to go to a car wash with a steam gun, and steam down the entire engine compartment and get it clean. There's nothing wrong with doing that every couple or five years, and as long...

Re: Corbeau 2-Inch Retractable Harness Belts

Looks intersting but I'd hae two concerns. The first being where to bolt in the shoulder reel. Since the stock location is near the floor and the "B" pillar would be an odd angle for the shoulder straps. There is a hard point under the trim on the C pillar but that's also a long stretch ac...

All they say is that a drifter died. Seven years ago. They don't even say anything about the man, other than he died. ...

Re: WTB: Hatch door release cable

I'm guessing that will have to be a junkyard part, and because of the way it threads all around, you'll have to go to a u-pull yard and spend some time getting to it. OTOH "bell crank" cables or whatever you call them, are all fairly standard. You can usually order them by the foot from va...

Re: Our tail lights are reverse polarity?

Funny thing, the 1985 EWD (electrical wiring diagrams book) is WRONG FOR THE CAR. It shows separate 1156 single filament bulbs for the brake and tail lights, so I'm on my own. zoom, we're loosing something in translation here. You say " when the brake pedal is not depressed, the + brake wire is...

Re: Our tail lights are reverse polarity?

I don't see what you guys are talking about. Adding a diode? To what and where? Adding a diode won't change the polarity in either circuit. There are two circuits (tail and brake) involved and that means a simple wire swap at the bulb isn't going to do it, the circuits have to be modified. I don't r...

Our tail lights are reverse polarity?

So I thought I'd treat my car to LED tail/brake lights as a safety update, since they're supposed to light up a little faster and give the guy behind me more time to stop instead of hitting me. Found a place called CarID.com, seemed competitive, and ordered some LUMEN® 1157CR bulbs. I used to know h...
