Re: 4age 16v Injector wiring problemo
The wiring diagram I have shows blue and red leading to the resistor box and yellow and green going all the way to the ECU. So I would expect that they would stay the same in the harness. The injectors are wired as pairs in parallel, so there will only be one blue and one red arriving at the resisto...

Thanks... yeah, they are both mine. This is the model that was sold in New Zealand, essentially Euro spec. Electric sunroof, LSD, A/C, no EGR, no O2 sensor, manual windows, manual mirrors, no cruise. They were all RHD and sold as Corolla GT Coupes (based on the JDM Levin). The barn red one has a sma...

Re: Engine stall. Cuts off. Vacuum switch. Help please
... my engine cuts off because one of the wire to this vacuum switch... ripped off. If your engine cuts out because that valve is not working, your idle speed must be a bit lower than stock (850-900 rpm). As said, try raising the idle speed by turning the screw down the tube on the side of the thro...

Its always a pleasure to hear from a person who never made a mistake or an error of judgement while driving. Re: Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
Threashold braking does as well and in most instances stops faster than ABS. Yes... in theory. When you are just braking hard into a corner, or scrubbing off speed in less than panic mode, threshold braking or cadence braking will do the job. But when you find yourself on the wrong side of the road...

why? If you have ever had the pleasure of having to make an emergency stop on a wet road, and feeling your anal sphincter contract as with wheels locked your car neither slows down nor changes direction... you will know why !!! By preventing brake lockup, ABS allows you to brake as hard as possible...

Re: How to Identify SmallPort/BigPort FPR
Smallport runs bigger injectors than the bigport. So if you run smallport injectors on a bigport ECU, its gonna run rich. EDIT: Should have checked with the Club4AG Tech Reference before I opened my mouth  Tech ref says bigport FPR pressure @ 2.55kg/cm2 and smallport FPR @ 2.90kg/cm2. That mea...

Re: How to Identify SmallPort/BigPort FPR
Hey FOB... pretty sure that the bigport and smallport run the same fuel pressure. So you should have no problems running the smallport FPR on a bigport rail providing you can connect it... the return hosetails go in different directions. Re: TRD 0.8mm Headgasket torque specs for bluetop? Copper sp
A bit of goooooogling tells me that most MLS gaskets rely on the pressed bead around the bores to provide the necessary sealing pressure. The bead acts like a spring, and does not permanently deform after a single use, which means that the gasket can be reused until permanent deformation does take p...

Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) , is the study and modification of the noise and vibration characteristics of vehicles. Re: 86 carpet install debate
The guys that install high end car audio know what it takes to quieten down a car interior. The fundamentals are adding mass to all panels that can vibrate and transmit noise (this is the sound deadening that you have removed). Closing off all opening that can allow airbourne noise to leak into the ...

Re: Speedometer not working?? and Brake Master question.
Drive gear inside the gearbox is made of steel, so it will chew up the nylon driven gear if they are not meshing properly. Disconnect the cable at the gearbox, get one rear wheel off the ground, and have someone spin the wheel while you check to see if the speedo output turns. Then make sure the spe...

Re: mr2 4age no start random
Sounds to me like your ignition switch took a dump. You are going to have a lot of trouble solving this no-start issue if you can't rely on the ignition switch putting power where it is supposed to be, and not putting power where it shouldn't be... like on the start solenoid wire !! So two choices.....

Re: 1975 Triumph Spitfire with Silvertop won't start !
Very often it does come down to something simple like a wire not plugged in. And always worth trying a fresh set of plugs after prolonged cranking... especially if the plugs in the engine are old and black. The thinner head gasket will have minimal effect on timing... if you have the distributor set...

Re: gts vs sr5 bellhousing. difference visually?
If you are standing at the engine end and looking inside... and the hole where the fork pokes thru the side of the bellhousing is on your left, then you are a 4AGE. If you are standing at the gearbox end, the clutch fork and the slave cylinder will be on your right (passenger side). Unless the bellh...

Re: is this possible, 4ac fuel pump on a 4age block?
AFAIK the 4AC fuel pump is a low pressure mechanical pump mounted on the rear of the head and driven off the single camshaft. There is zero chance of mounting it on a 4AGE. The 4AGE fuel pump is a high pressure electric pump mounted in the fuel tank. I really think you should not post after you have...

Re: Can we talk about some LSD's
My understanding of the factory LSD is that it is designed to behave like an open diff when not under load. So that in suburban cruising, mall carparks and similar light load situations, the car turns and behaves as if it had an open diff. When a bit more load (right foot) is applied, the wedging ac...
