My '87 T-top after removing interior sound deadening and carpet. Still had the lead bars in, because those are a LOT of spot welds. That I remember, I was sitting in it as well.

Re: Advise on a 20v bt build N/A
I've got a fair setup with suspension and will be doing some weight reduction with on the car with carbon fiber (not into carbon for cosmetics). I would like to put down 170 to the floor. I have been checking into the C60 but just having a hard time getting one in Costa Rica... they only sale them ...

Re: 20v Oil pan replacement
Is the aluminum oil pan extension supposed to be load bearing? And where does it not line up? Yes. On the AE86 there are braces on either side of the block which bolt to the engine and the trans. On the AE111 there is a single aluminum brace which goes under the oil pan. On 7AFEs the oil pan serves...

Re: AE86 Standalone Management
You don't need to touch the OEM chassis harness. Everything can be done in the Engine harness. The G-R wire originally going to the AFM is used to ground the circuit open relay to drive the fuel pump. You can run this to the ECU as the fuel pump. The B-R wire coming from the EFI relay is used to pow...

Re: 20v Oil pan replacement
4A-FE pan should be the ticket, but I would ask Dan, as he knows more about those than I do. The 7A pan is provisioned to bolt to a C-series tansmission. This pattern does not line up with the T50, so if you're doing this in an FR you'll either need to hack it down to use the original engine to tran...

That could work, since the front of the seat bottom is adjustable. I'll take a look. Thank you.

lower seats
My AE86 has a sunroof and stock seats. When wearing a helmet I have to completely change my driving position or I hit my helmet on the sunroof rail. I'd love to delete the sunroof, but am not in a position to do so at this moment. My stock seats are MINT, so I'd like to sell them and pick up a pair ...

Re: Advise on a 20v bt build N/A
i dont advise supertech valves they are exact copies if stock just bigger This is demonstrably not true, and most of why they aren't much good. Ferrea's valves are actually much closer to the stock back profile than Supertech's. Most 20vs have worn guides, which require replacing, but doing so arbi...

Re: Crower Rods, PN B93752B-4 (no lube hole???)
Only a small percentage of aftermarket rods will have the oiling hole. It is to oil the thrust side of the cylinder wall during low RPM and/or low load use. I would not be bothered by it.

Re: Need comments 20v dyno chart
To me the torque looks decent for a 4A. Dip at ~5700 is VVT, correct? That transition can be difficult, but should be worked on. You have >140 Nm from 5500 to 8000. That's not bad.

Re: 4AFE vs 4AGE Oil Pump
I'll have to agree with Dan about this one. Because there are variations of pumps which fit the A-series engines, it's very likely you won't know exactly what you are getting. When getting a pump from Toyota you know what you are getting. I DO tend to suggest Aisin for parts when available, such a ...

I wonder if Toda gears would fit in the later AFE pump housing.
And I wonder if the gears are different for the oil pumps which are provisioned for crank sensors.

Re: 5.5ag 20v Coupe
There is nothing wrong with the short block everything was done properly. Except, apparently, piston to valve clearance. the whole incident was a simple mis calculation of the valve pocket angle on the deep side thus the edge of the valves hit mid way down This is easy to check with plasticine. I'm...

Re: Jeff's winter 2012 20v engine build
I ordered up some Clevite rod bearings, as they're a bit thinner than the thinnest OEM bearings, which allows me to widen my rod bearing clearances a bit. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-LPHwJVQz4hc/UT40p9x3AaI/AAAAAAAAAWw/ersJW8yKJIw/s800/P2180061.JPG So I measured them up, and came out with 0.0...

Re: Jeff's winter 2012 20v engine build
why do you think the silvertop piston has 5 valve reliefs and the blacktop 2? The silvertop, like all 16v 4A-Gs, has such large valve reliefs to make it a non-interference engine. Toda's pistons are designed ts accommodate high-lift camshafts. This is common of all "off the shelf" pistons...
