Exactly, its the bushings that take the bulk of the angular differences in dynamic motion.

Did you replace the temp sensor to analog sensor? Did you wire it correctly?

Re: Tire size questions.

We've seen tires as large as 225/35-18 installed on AE86's. Offsets will much depend on fenders, alignments, and details. That's been stepped up Moto, 265/35/18 now on 10.5s, 255/35/17 up front. Largest I've seen so far, but lots of work done to the car so it's not applicable to 99.9% of the cars o...

That depends on the wheel size. But generally, on stock fenders, it should accommodate it on +10 at 15x7's

Fluctuates by sellers but usually $400-600 sometimes more if it's a set of front and rear?

Re: Tire size questions.

Then 205/50-15 or something of that nature in diameter and width and with preferred construction and compound should suffice fora nicely balanced car. You can go larger for more grip but that also aggravate the issues of old archaic suspension and frame of AE86 too. That's about as narrow as I can a...

Is this for actual track balance or for visual effects? If track how much power are we sending to tires and what sort of Motorsports will you partake in? All of those matter to select the best balance and budgets

Re: which engine has more potential for more power?

No that's what I mean though. Most people in AE86 domains don't consider $5000 to be economically feasible in most cases. Regardless of AE86 or FR-S, and outside of pro-Drifting, huge power requirements and expensive custom engines tend to keep people off track, lots of downtime, and to me that's th...

Re: spark plug wire 4age

NGK #6 plugs in platinum works best out of all the things tested over the years for a decent unmolested engine. Boosted ones may require #7 on raceways but all in all, regular old platinum NGK just starts you in the morning, never fouls badly, keeps well on track, and doesn't shatter the bases insid...

I say just 3D design an entirely new center console from front to back! The old AE86 one isn't too spiffy anyway to begin with. Make one with more ideas built in and accommodations like cigar sockets increased and such. Imagine custom stuff you can do!

I like everyone's answer. And my basis is that all of these answers are correct for a newbie. And that's because ALL of those answers above involves YOU to get out there and DRIVE. No one improves driving by filling the brain with facts read in books or articles. You need to get out there, apply the...

Maybe better yet, offer somebody else who might be looking for body and paint work. And perform that with him or for him for a small fee, and make friends that way. That way you don't need to go out of your way to find a car to buy, and a customer can perhaps help you look for more customers, and ca...

Re: which engine has more potential for more power?

By the time all the custom upgrades and re-finishing, grinds, Polish, and such are done on a 16V it will even out or best a 20v (blackhead Kouki) by a tad, but the BEST part of using the 20V Kouki in straight factory form is that when you blow one up, it's easy and complete to put another one in, wi...

Wobbly crank pulley

You need a very accurate torque wrench for engine builds!!! It's not so that you don't strip bolts but more that every part needs to be fitted and torqued to spec, so things have the right tensile strengths and loads. Guessing the torque by hand on any engine bolts and fasteners will cause leaks, cr...

170-180 by the way, IS a BIG power gain for a 4A-GE and like many have assisted with details, it's not modest or easy to get from naturally aspirated state, nor is it cheap. Also AE86 driving is about character, balance, and driver connection. And more purists will suggest a method of building a wel...

We've seen tires as large as 225/35-18 installed on AE86's. Offsets will much depend on fenders, alignments, and details. But best handling on track is achieved with 15x8 or 14x7.5 or so wheels with corresponding tire sizes at about 195~205 widths. Larger wheels or lower profile tires tend to aggrav...

Re: Skid pad rating? and handling questions.

Just drive the piss out of it, and worry about handing later. We bought our first AE86 in 1988, and thought to be the Slowest, Lightweight, most fun, reliable car. It wasn't till 1995 we started to take it apart, modify things throughly and compete in real races with scores. By 2002, we've won SCCA ...
