Re: Question COILOVER exp! Help!
^Do you have a link by chance? I'm genuinely curious. Their site must be out of date because they still list the 8/6k rates and non inverted rear. (However, I did see a pic of the inverted rear coilovers in boosted86's build thread.) I also did a google search but can't find anything but the old set...

Re: Rear main seal leak? Mysterious loss of oil.
What about pcv line on the side? Although unlikely, it's possible the oil is all dumping out the pvc into the intake on right turns. Run the pcv line to an empty bottle or can to observe what comes out, and plug the return port on the manifold, or don't. I had a similar problem when I was in Greenvi...

If the roads are really windy where you live try venting the crankcase breathers to atmosphere as a simple test. You will also have to plug the open ports left behind on the manifold/airbox. See if there's any change.

I'm pretty sure greddy type s is long dicontinued. Pbm is interesting, but their focus seems to be drift cars. Plus the kit isn't cheap and doesn't come with spindles. Further, it doesn't seem that there is a way to cup weld a spindle on as it should be because the strut housing is too wide at the b...

Assuming the r&p are interchangeable... the quaife aw11 r&p (or stock aw11) in an ae86 housing might be ideal.
I wonder how the ae71 stuff compares.

This vid explains the clunking and how to remedy: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=X0hr8s5Of4Y I've got ae86 stock replacement Bilsteins (inverted insert up front) and they've always clunked; it only happens at really low speeds over bumps/irregularities. Luckily, it doesn't affect performance unless th...

Looks great dude I wish I could fab like that. Any plans for a watts link? Imo a shame not to considering your skills and equal 4 link. Stabce doesn't list inverted rear for ae86 unless I missed it (checked site yesterday), but it's probably just out of date. The only thing I don't like about invert...

It looks like they did a good job on the 2 tone scheme, which is really nice since it's often botched one way or another.

Mj is saying that it's not easy to fit on a rear wheel drive car because the throttle body would point at the firewall. However, it's probably not a problem on fwd and mr vehicles.

Re: Ford 8.8 rear end
The first gen rx7 gsl axle is 7.1 (I think) with disc and lsd. Finding one might be harder than a gts axle though. I'm sure the 8.8 would work, but just keep in mind the extra rotational and unsprung weight. Fwiw even a mk1 supra axle is too big for any n/a 4age, imo. Do you need something to get yo...

Re: I lost the brake union for my ae86
It's called a brake proportioning (aka prop) valve. Sr5 and gts are different. I believe they're all discontinued from toyota, and I don't think there are any application specific aftermarket replacements. You'll probably have to scour tye classifieds for a used unit, or adapt an aftermarket adjusta...

I just came across this pic in badboy88000's build thread (ae86 top, aw11 bottom): http://i876.photobucket.com/albums/ab328/deucecam/Mobile%20Uploads/22218962019_2775e140c5_c_zpsiyey95di.jpg The ae86 housing definitely is shorter. looks like the ae86 housing is shorter, but is it's rack/gear longer, or the same length as aw11?

Re: Ford 8.8 rear end
You'll have to transfer all the suspension pick up points (brackets) from the gts axle. I imagine it's longer than the ae86 axle so the wheels will stick out farther. It will be very heavy for 100 hp/tq, and will also probably affect the suspension/handling because of the extra weight; I assume stif...

Completely hypothetical 'what if' scenario: put in engine to my specs.
Real world scenario: already has a good running engine (4ag of course).

Great points. The aftermarket units are not only brand new, but stronger, and should have better support if a part breaks and needs to be replaced since oem stuff is probably dicontinued. Also consider that the oem units are only 1 way (I think). My gripes with the 4.7 r/p and cusco lsd are mainly c...

Check the classified section of the forum or local cl for used replacements (part out threads are usually the best bet). Another option is making your own - I've done this. I bought a large sheet of 1/8" thick plastic. I don't remember the type, but it has flex and can be rolled up kind of like...

It's roughly a $500 difference between the tomei 2 way lsd and the oem weir maxgrip rebuild kit. Imo it's not worth spending the extra cash on a cusco or kaaz lsd because they have basically the same quality, performance, design, etc. as the tomei. Re: Cluster lights not coming on after steering wheel swap
When this happens does the hvac, cig light, etc. also not work? If so it could be a bad solder connection in the headlight switch which is a fairly common problem. Bumping the dash could make the connection intermittent. You could try tapping on the headlight switch knob (or smack the dash around th...
