Re: Use 4AFE / 20v 4AGE Oil Pan on RWD 7AC / 7AGE Build?
Correction, the 4A-FE oil pan in question would be the AE101 ('93-'97) oil pan. The AE92 (except the All-Trac / 4WD) oil pans are rectangular. No notch / cut-out. Edit: I wonder if the 16v oil capacity is higher due to the oil cooler? No oil cooler for a 20v. Thanks for the reply :) Yeah, I'm refer...

Use 4AFE / 20v 4AGE Oil Pan on RWD 7AC / 7AGE Build?
Hey everyone, I've been doing a bit of research on a RWD 7AC / 7AGE swap and I think I found some cool info. In a RWD setup, using the 7AFE oil pan means you can't use the block to bellhousing braces that were originally on the RWD 4AC / 16v 4AGE. Here's a picture of said braces for reference: http:...

Cool! :D I seriously want to ask how much you paid for that TE72, and that donor AE86 GTS, but I won't :) Anyway, I know your original plan was to find an AE86 to swap everything in to. So now that you have both an AE86 and a TE72, are you still planning on swapping everything into the TE72? Seems l...

Re: OST-029: California here I come.....
My goal for an emissions compliance head is to optimize everything, yet change nothing. Yeah sounds confusing... Look carefully, all I've done to this head so far has been to clean up relatively obvious flaws in the casting, I've not changed things in this head like I did with OST-028, that head go...

Re: OST-029: California here I come.....
This head is sold to a client in California. This is his daily driver, that gets a track beating/work out every few months or so. Retaining emissions compliance is paramount, but we can get a bit more without offending the sniffer. Hey OST, First off, great work :) I'm trying to learn about head wo...

Re: 4AC timing procedure?
Hey guys, My 4ac burnt a valve and so I had the head sent to the machine shop and fixed. Now the engine is completely put back together and it will start and run (not correctly tho). I used a timing light and the timing is way off. I did not know the procedure on how to get it ready to set the timi...

Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch
That emblem came with the Cusco 2-way LSD. While I was deployed, I had a mechanic put the rear together for me. That's why I know so little about it :? Yeah, it's the drum to disc part that has me intrigued. I don't mean to drill you about it; it's more of a curiosity thing for me :) Mostly as a po...

I rebuilt the rear with a weir ring and pinion and Cusco 2-way LSD. http://imageshack.com/a/img841/1290/j7b9.jpg I also went with a Rotora big brake kit up front with stainless lines, moved the stock calipers to the rear in place of the drums, and put on an new Fujitsubo over axle exhaust with a st...

I actually tried to figure this out and realized that they aren't negative trigger however you could still get this look by converting it to negative trigger. It's not to difficult. You'll need 4 relays (2 for each side). I drew kind of a sketch for it here:http://imageshack.com/a/img661/6821/414cI...

Re: looking to wire my corner lights as my blinker! HELP
All you need to do is wire a relay to connect the turn signal to the corner light whenever you actually move the switch up or down. I don't know off hand, but I'm sure it's negative trigger. I'll do some digging with a meter today and draw you up a schematic. Should only need 1 relay per side unles...

Re: My recap and ongoing final stretch of building my Hatch
The mirrors do just pop out however they are pretty fragile. I suggest kind of bending a corner and just slowly working the plastic off of it around the mirror. This is the best video I've seen of how to twist the wires: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTJhrTTl-EE You are going to want to tie off o...

Getting an AE85 today, and I'm making plans for it. I won't have money for a 4AG for a while, so I am wondering if aftermarket internals are interchangeable between the two motors. Wow shagymc, awesome build! The restoration of all the little bits on your car is really inspiring :) A couple questions for you: 1) On the mirrors, does the glass pop out? I did a little research on this before; my post is at 4AC Powered: http://4ac-powered.forumotion.com/t2780-rear-disc-brake-research If you look around online, there are a couple threads about converting Toyotas to use AE86 rear disc brakes. I think most, if not all, of these threads are on doing the...

Luckily the light in my defroster switch is ok (I checked last night).
I'll definitely see if I can find a solution aside from going through Toyota; I don't have *that* kind of $

Re: AE86 Headlight, Wiper, and Defroster Lights Not Working
Every interior light in the dash is on one circuit, so if the circuit was bad then they would all be out. They all run off the 15A tail fuse. There are two tiny plugs that go to each little light, so check that those get power, and if they do then the bulbs are bad. If not then you need to get the ...

Wow, rebuilding the carb will be quite the task. It has been a while since I watched those videos, but idk if it's that big of a deal to rebuild a carb.
