Re: Recommended ECU for 20V
Find out who you are going to have tune it, and get the setup they are most comfortable with. Not all shops are willing to tune with megasquirt or some off-brand that is rarely used. By now, pretty much all standalones are created equal. The 4AG is very simple, no need for insane traction control or...

this. you run the s2000 cluster too. No, you don't need to change the fuel sending unit, the AE86 is actually very accurate when paired with the s2000 cluster.

Re: Lamda sensor 16v to 20v??
16v sensors do not work. Get an oxygen sensor from a N/A SW20 MR2. The 16v one is a single wire type, the MR2 one is a newer style that has four wires: signal, ground, heater power, heater ground control. You can get the universal MR2 one as well and just wire it up, either way.

Re: 20v black top bogging! Don't no why. Can some 1 help?
From my experience, here's what I've seen go bad: -transistor in the ECU burns up (see above link) -incorrect MAP sensor used -knock sensor is bad -incorrect ignitor -20v distributor caps suck, they burn up often. Look inside to see if there are white/grey burn trails. The coils are all pretty unive...

Re: piston question
You can run the stock silvertop bottom end with the stock 16v head. The ST pistons are junk though when paired with the head, valve reliefs are way off etc etc. It's called a 1620 engine. Just a heads up, you can get high comp 16v pistons from rockauto for $84 for the set of four. Built a motor a fe...

The MFactory 5th gear I'm waiting to hear back on. I can get most of the T50 rebuild parts from the dealer still. Synchros, hubs and some roller bearings are around $330. The aftermarket rebuild kits have been discontinued as far as I know. Yeah, still work in palm springs. once I get a hold of a t...

You just use any lower radiator hose for the 16v Corolla GTS RWD 85-87. You need to use the RWD thermostat housing.

Re: bad engine ground?
AFM is working fine then. The circuit open relay is behind the glovebox, yellow connector 5 pins. It's actually two relays in one. Half of the relay runs the fuel pump during cranking, the other half runs the engines after cranking. So if one half of the relay fails the car will only get fuel when c...

Re: AE86 fuel starvation
My GTS does the same. They may have been replaced at one point in time with a non-baffled SR5 tank. I'm planning on running a surge tank later down the road to fix this. The surge tank is like a separate, smaller gas tank that works with the main tank. You use a low flow fuel pump to feed gas into t...

Re: bad engine ground?
check the circuit open relay and the AFM. If the relay goes bad it will supply fuel for cranking but wont keep the fuel pump running after the engine starts, letting the engine run out of fuel and die. The relay operation is also controlled by the AFM. The relay doesn't kick on until it sees that th...
