Re: Engine Bay Clean up
Its a simple degreasing & power washing task. Some precautions you might want to do first before you start. If you have an aftermarket intake system, cover the air filter & the distributor. A plastic shopping bag works great for this. Also stay away from the radiator and a/c condenser when p...

Re: NEED HELP: STARTING PROBLEMS
Guys, Thanks for all the useful information. I got pointed in the right direction. I did some more research after that and figured out that it was a remote starter. I removed that hideous thing, bought some fuseable links and attached them. It cranks now, but the battery was low, so I am currently ...

Re: Oil everywhere
Konatrueno can you give me an estimate for an oil pump job on a 97 Camry 5SFE? Just labor for R&R oil pump drive gears. I'm trying to convince my wife the money I saved on labor should be blown on car parts. Understood..I'll get on the computer at the shop in the morning & get that fo...

Re: NEED HELP: STARTING PROBLEMS
Hey that's a remote starter solenoid from a ford! Your 4age starter already has a solenoid built into it,so I don't understand what's the need for that.. Have you tried bypassing it & reconnecting the original starter signal wire?
Atleast you have your friends car for referencing..it helps

Re: Oil everywhere
kona, when the timing belt snaps on a 4AGE there is no damage from intereference or other issues. The engine is a low-performance conservative build (unlike Honda) so if the belt snaps and the valves rattle around with no timing, they'll still never hit the pistons. Good old fashioned obsolete engi...

Re: Oil everywhere
I just finished up a GTS earlier in the week that had the similar oil leak problems you have. Now I have an mr2 & it got towed into my shop yesterday. The same damn problems & maybe worser! I'd move forward on the repairs to keep the car running for now. Maybe later down the road do a swap o...

Re: Automatic ae86
Plug connections may differ. Automatics have a safety neutral sw circuit. But it can be easily bypassed by locating those two wires & connecting them together so you can start the car. Same goes for the reverse light sw. If you could, try to acquire the plugs (harness side) from the donor 5spd c...

Re: Do i need to re-shim???
ANY time a different cam is installed you should check clearances. As xploding-twincam mentioned, to determined the correct shims needed after installing different cams (correct me if i'm wrong), checking clearance is done when the cam is at .050" is that right? Just needed you to refresh me o...

Re: 4ac drift project.
You may lose some torque with a lightweight setup over the standard weight flywheel on the 4ac.. If your plans are to drift & keeping the revs up using a strong dedicated clutch kit (along with the mods you mentioned),then fine..a fellow 4ac purist in my town did it on his dd & he kept on dy...

Re: modding a 4ac??
When I removed my 4age for a rebuild, I stuck a 4ac in it for dd & it gave me the best gas mileage per tank full..
It had a weber on it too. Economy is all i loved about the sohc,it did get me to point A & back
