Re: Finding true TDC on a 7AG
What OST is talking about doesn't even get around to the changes due to the block height. He is just saying that if you mix and match 7A and 4A timing pulley and oil pump the references will be wrong due to having different locations. How many people do this though? Do you have to mix and match thos...

Re: Petition to get replacement bearings for SC12 and SC14
OK then, so its going to be machining, either the case, the bearing, a sleeve or a combination of them. I am looking into that a little more right now. The first step will be to find the next closest bearing that meets all the required specs of the application. I will be talking to the NSK and Timk...

Re: Petition to get replacement bearings for SC12 and SC14
Ok so I just got off the phone with yet another person from TMC and she once again told me she had exhausted all her resources and that this is not possible. She said Toyota is not willing to renegotiate their contract and there was nothing further I could do as a business. She did however tell me t...

Re: Petition to get replacement bearings for SC12 and SC14
I have called almost every big bearing manufacturer as well as had several bearing distributors look into the matter. The bearings are 45mm OD and 46 mm OD. The two at 45mm are only available to OEMs. There are no similar bearings that come even close to working. At one point I was told I could get ...

Re: smallport to bigport swap
Some guys on the MR2 forums were sticking smallport intakes on bigport heads. It will not work as a direct bolt on. The couple people who I saw do it used JBweld to fill in the gaps on the flange. Too ghetto for my taste. With the intake flanges I am selling now one could weld one of those onto a S...

Make sure there isn't any moisture in the spark plug wells. It's unlikely it would kill all four cyls but not impossible. To eliminate the dizzy you could see if there is spark coming directly off the coil wire. Are you bolting the coils on? They ground through their mount to the chassis. If you lea...

Re: Petition to get replacement bearings for SC12 and SC14
The really PITA bearings are 45 mm. The next common size up is 47mm. There is no way you could take that much material off the bearing. The thread on the MR2OC has turned into a fairly lengthy discussion on alternatives and such if anyone is interested in checking it out. Right now my focus is not a...

I believe I can get you a BT oil pump. If so it would be about $180. Email me if you are interested and I will confirm price and availability.
If you are interested in the tensioner let me know. A part number would be great otherwise I can find it.

Petition to get replacement bearings for SC12 and SC14
I should have given up on this months ago but the more Toyota resists and the more idiotic they behave the more aggravated and bullheaded I become. Action through private channels has done no good so I am hoping some public awareness may do some good. If nothing else maybe they will notice if their ...

Are you sure you are talking about the 20Vs? The BT has 8.2mm on the intake stock.
Of course it is also entirely dependent on how fast you spin the motor.

The bung for the knock sensor should be there but on older blocks they weren't drilled and tapped. You can drill and tap the bung making sure not to go too deep, or you can try to find another unused hole in a similar location. I am running the sensor to my ECU in the stock location and another in a...

SC12/14 clutch bearing questions
I am trying to track down replacement bearings for the SC clutch. I have found one for the US GZE. I have a later JDM GZE pulley to check bearing dimensions and currently have my supplier looking for a replacement. I am curious if the SC14 uses the same bearing as either of those or if anyone knows ...

I thought about looking into this for my store but then I realized I have to sell the full kits at about my cost to be competitive with anyone. Offereing the individual components I get to come in cheaper than I could find the 16V 4AGE set and still actually make a couple bucks on the deal. It may n...

Re: Optimum timing
I don't feel like this is something that can be generally stated. Personally the only way I would take timing off the factory spot is if I had a knock monitor and a dyno. Anything else and you are going to be shooting blind. Each persons motor will also be different. My settings at 7000 feet and run...

I just got the ARP head studs up on my site that are reported to work for the 20V. You have to order everything individually. 10 studs plus one pack of nuts and one pack of washers. The cost is about the same as the 16V ARP kit. I haven't used these studs but they are the same part numbers reference...

I'm being too lazy to look up the actual spec right now but that is pretty low. What's your elevation? It should be closer to 200 stock at sea level but will be a lot lower if you live at a considerable altitude. It is also possible for different gauges to be off and other variables to change the re...

A thread on the MR2OC finally motivated me to do something I have been wanting to do for a long time. It always bothers me hearing people randomly throwing this oil or that oil into their SC. Re: Interest in clutches
Just one note. The GZE FW at least on the FR/MR trans is bigger than either NA FW. Something like 225mm. So the AE86 was all 200mm stock and can use the same disk and PP as the early AW11, is that correct? They can switch to a 212 FW, PP and disk same as the AW11 right? ACT does not offer any option...

not only will you need to run 91 or 93 octane, timing will have to be retarded a few degrees from stock. I would recommend running a stage colder than stock plugs, NGK bcpr6es11 is what I run. also, mine ran real rough at idle, so i disconnected the FPR vacuum line and plugged it. it will run full ...
