Hi all,
I am in the process of purchasing a complete 4AGZE engine complete with loom, ECU, etc
Just wondering about camshafts...would I benefit from some HKS 264 cams or stick with stock?
Many thanks in advance
Alex

FS Small Port 4AGE Parts
It comes with great regret that I am selling these parts that I went to great lengths to get a hold of, but I am in the process of buying a 4AGZE clip which is something I've longed for, for ages now and the opportunity has arisen to get my hands on one. I was in the stages of rebuilding a 4AGE smal...

Re: Fubar Toda Cams
Thanks Jondee86 and Sgt, will do.
I cannot feel any of the marks with my fingernail. I will measure the cams to make sure they are all the same diameter.
However, would you feel comfortable using these in a freshly built engine?

Fubar Toda Cams
Hi, Unfortunately it seems that I have purchased some Toda cams on eBay which have heat damage. They had surface rust which I got off, but then left these marks. The cam seal end looks fucked but there is no cuts into the material. It's all smooth. See pictures below. http://i72.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: Smallport Head
Hi,
Sorry yes you are right, for some reason I was thinking the head had a mount on it but they bracket bolts to the block.
I'll not worry about the additional holes in the head, as this is going in my AW11 and I will not have anything for this.
Thanks for the reply

Hi,
The smallport cylinder head- are the bolting holes for the engine mount different to the bigport head?
Many thanks

Yes mate I know, I meant completely as i've currently got mine jammed open.
I'm sure i've read somewhere where someone has put it back on again, obviously with adaptor plates.

Re: 87 MR2 Build
What do you mean by 'get rid of as much stuff as possible'?
Are you continuing with the build?
You can't really get rid of any wires in the harness as they are all needed.
The link AE86Kai has listed is great and should sort you right out.

Fix it! Don't let it get you down! It'll be better and stronger next time as you'll learn from previous mistakes and make it better than ever!

Yes it is a big-port sorry. My current engine is the same.

3rd paragraph does say AE92 came with TVIS - I stand corrected.
Sounds like a dizzy or injector issue.

Hi SgtRauksauff, I'm doing a same sort of build on my AW11 but swapping the bigport head, inlet manifold and pistons to all smallport. But will be trimming head down to 35cc along with port work, deshrouding, polishing etc have 260/252 cat cams too. I'm going to ditch the TVIS completely.

Re: I have a 4age frankenstein and its driving me crazy
The AW11 resistor box is on the right hand side of the engine bay near the engine fan/vent. Corolla Smallport injectors are high impedance and will not run (I have looked into this for running higher CC injectors) http://club4ag.com/tech-data/tech-specs/toyota-injectors-size-color-application-and-im...

I believe the MR2 dizzy and AE92 dizzy are the same as I'm using my MR2 dizzy in the Frankenstein engine I am actually building myself!
Is the MR2 ECU looking for a MAP instead of an AFM?

Re: t-vis butterflies
I'm doing a small port conversion on my AW11 and I am not using the TVIS. I have gone to the trouble of sourcing a small port inlet manifold rather than doing the big port adapter and big-port inlet manifold. I was under the impression the small port is better because of the head and manifold design...

In terms of the high comp block, I am using the high comp pistons...and the compression will be loads more than standard 10.3
Does that alter things?
Thank you in advance

Small Port Oil Drain
Hi,
I have the small port cylinder head with the oil drain.
I am using a 3-rib block which does not have the inlet for the drain.
If I was to re-route the drain from the head to the sump, will it be better than blocking it off completely?
Cheers

Re: 4A-GE 16v Rear Freeze Plug Info
Taking the box off and flywheel will be adequate, the engine doesn't need to come off. However when I was taking my flywheel off, you'll find that the only mount holding the engine on, is on the RHS side. You'll need to support the sump and engine a lot more, otherwise when you attempt to undo the f...

Re: Rebuilt 4age bigport no spark
The TVIS is there for the standard camshafts. Putting in higher lift and longer duration camshafts is a known issue for the TVIS. Various people on here have discussed it but not too many have actually removed it. Read here. Look at the 150-160hp info http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods.htm I rebuilt m...

There does appear to be one here

They are probably all the same size, however I have a spare block, I can get my mate to measure the plug if you want?
