Re: Syncing throttle bodies question

...what tools are required... Required? None, except a piece of tubing, mechanic's stethoscope or one of those tube type airline headphones and halfway decent hearing in one ear. Listening to the hiss at the same position on each one will easily get you within those marks on the Unisyn's scale. IDK...

Re: UPDATE! Gas coming out of fuel neck nozzle...

Yes, if you consider all the charcoal canister & fuel vapor stuff as BS.
Gasoline used to take a long time to age, now with the alcohol(or maybe even without) it ages quicker, and venting to atmo might make it even quicker.

Re: UPDATE! Gas coming out of fuel neck nozzle...

Thank You jondee86!! Aftermarket isn't smart enough to include a necessary feature, but they are smart enough to know you aren't going to return it. All it needs is a vent like the agcoauto pic jondee86 posted, it doesn't have to be too big, even 1/8in 4mm ID oughta be just about large enough. It do...

Re: UPDATE! Gas coming out of fuel neck nozzle...

The tank's filler neck has a small tube inside it that goes down past the end mounting & turns up into all that space above the entry into the tank, it's a vent. The stock tank, not the poorly soldered aftermarket. When that tube gets fuel in it, like the airlock/p-trap on a kitchen sink,it stop...

Bore distortion is very pronounced on some blocks, not so significant on others, Any cylinder boring is going to weaken it and higher head bolt torque will increase the effect. EVERY block deforms, its just a question of how much. Does your bore wear look different between the head bolts Vs adjacent...

It's not just regrinding the cam, it's putting the lobes in different places, and a cast iron blank, before factory machining, just doesn't have metal where you'll need it.
Get a sawsall, learn how to weld REAL WELL, cut & paste crank & cam.

Did the pedal feel abnormally hard, like just a bit'a free play and then pretty stiff & the same feel all the way down to the floor? The master has the ability to gulp in extra fluid when the pedal is suddenly released and the slave piston is a bit sticky, or the flex hose is kinked or swollen i...

When you unbolt the trans from the engine, does it seem to push itself away from the block & open up the gap as you're loosening the last bolt, Like it is spring loaded? IIRC, someone once had a thingy that the release/throwout bearing is pressed onto that was too big/long & caused similar p...

Driveshaft in place? Missing clutch disk?
This sounds pretty much impossible to happen otherwise, at least not with out a lotta noise from a clutch disk that's separated from its hub.
I'm clueless.
Good luck.

Be EXTREMELY careful getting those pistons.
I didn't think any machine shop would ever bore a block WITHOUT having a piston in their hands, WAAYY too easy to F it up otherwise. Very bad practice even if they didn't like you.

That dist. cap looks pretty normal/unremarkable & shouldn't have caused any warm start problems. If you don't like the ascetics or the slight resistance increase, just scrape it off with your favorite knife or screwdriver or scissors & it'll be fine cause 40,000+ volts doesn't disappear that...

Lots'o fretting on all'o them, moving around A LOT before failure. Just too loose/bad install IMO.
Also pretty unevenly on the first one, nothing symmetrical about its wear.
They have to be tightened in STEPS, criss-cross! Also a perfect surface, lapping in might help.

...can it only really leak when the car is under load and other wise it just doesn't or never notice? No. Any leak will get spread all over the underside, except for slow ones that drop off, rather then spread out, when you hit a bump. That seems like a pretty impossible amount to be unnoticeable. ...

Ask friend if it was running those useless ARP head studs that'll restrict oiling.
Polish up the journals and put a nicer radius on their oil ports instead of the sharp chamfer/edge/countersink they've got now.

A little lower then engine off and a little lower still up at 5000. Windage makes it awfully tough to gauge & mostly useless.
Doubt that there's more then a half pint/250cc up top unless G's or tremendous blowby are concerned.

Something is different or missing, just about Zero amount of oil should come out of the valve cover vent/s, cause Toyota spent some time & $ to baffle it so nothing getting flung/splashed from the cam & rockers would get out, blowby or not, but yours seems to have a direct line spewing that ...

What's the compression?
Does it miss or surge or feel funny when redlining 2nd & 3rd?
Is the timing adjusted for a smooth fast idle, and octane so it'll only ping/detonate if abused, like trying to accelerate in 3'rd at 2000rpm?

ALL piston & cam changes should be mocked up!
Then again, if these new pistons are trying to keep it non-interference(NFG, horribly cut up IMO), the even the wildest cam won't come anywhere close in operation & only touch with a belt break or mis-assembled.

Tire pressure, make sure the vacuum advance is working, also ease off the throttle & push into neutral(you don't even have to use the clutch) instead of charging up to a stop light or downshifting double clutching like a jr raceroo to wear the engine & drivetrain instead of the brakes.
