you will have to get new shims. i would not try to grind them down. just get the correct sizes. for the shimless buckets you can get a set from a yaris. they fit the 4age perfectly. the shim is simply built into the bucket. instead of changing shims you would change buckets.

are you getting any wear grooves in your rotors? that could be a normal sound since you are getting the sound with out the caliper on. semi-metalic pads are noisy by nature.

do you know the spring length spring rate and inside diameter of your current springs? eibach swift qa1 are all brands of coilover springs. if you want softer rear springs that mount in the stock location you will need trd or swift you will probably have to get a hold of the rears used tho i think s...

they ride well i had a set on my car when i first got my car. i used them for about 2 years before i swapped to coilovers. i would say use them.

how does your car idle? have you checked the TPS settings? is there any vac leaks? also check your base timing and your ignition timing. do you have any CEL lights?

what kind of brake pads did you use? i ask because semi-metalic pads are generaly noisier then the ceramic versions. also if the inside pad is wearing more or faster then the outside pad then you will need brake lines to correct that.

Iv seen an aw11 steering wheel in the ae86 looks like it fit pretty well.

they are all the same. it doesnt matter if its 16v or 20v they will work

go with map. you wont need the afm if you run map. megasquirt has a built in map sensor so i would go with that over the afm.

in that case you have the large port. cool just use all the aw11 gze parts wire it up and go. just dont try to up the boost. more boost will cause detination and broken pistons.

here is an idea of the differences in the cr of the pistons.
early gze = 8.0:1 later gze = 8.9:1 large port 9.4:1

is it a small port or large port? if it is a small port then you will have to lower the compression of the pistons. if it is the large port you should be fine. also there is 2 versions of the gze intake mani small port and large port. this has to match your head or you will have a massive vac/boost ...
