Re: front brake noise

are you getting any wear grooves in your rotors? that could be a normal sound since you are getting the sound with out the caliper on. semi-metalic pads are noisy by nature.

Re: Spring Options for Coilover Suspension

do you know the spring length spring rate and inside diameter of your current springs? eibach swift qa1 are all brands of coilover springs. if you want softer rear springs that mount in the stock location you will need trd or swift you will probably have to get a hold of the rears used tho i think s...

Re: 16v high comp (red top) conversion questions

for the cooling stuff you can take everything from your blue top if you plan on using the mechanical fan. If you have an efan then you can just swap the water inlet and outlet and it will work just the same. I wouldnt bolt up the mech fan to the FWD water pump as it was not designed to support the e...

Re: front brake noise

what kind of brake pads did you use? i ask because semi-metalic pads are generaly noisier then the ceramic versions. also if the inside pad is wearing more or faster then the outside pad then you will need brake lines to correct that.

go with map. you wont need the afm if you run map. megasquirt has a built in map sensor so i would go with that over the afm.

Re: Redtop sc12

in that case you have the large port. cool just use all the aw11 gze parts wire it up and go. just dont try to up the boost. more boost will cause detination and broken pistons.

here is an idea of the differences in the cr of the pistons.
early gze = 8.0:1 later gze = 8.9:1 large port 9.4:1

Re: Redtop sc12

is it a small port or large port? if it is a small port then you will have to lower the compression of the pistons. if it is the large port you should be fine. also there is 2 versions of the gze intake mani small port and large port. this has to match your head or you will have a massive vac/boost ...

i second that. any reputable muff shop should be able to help out with this. plus i have heard the obx headers have a 2.5 collector and a 2.25 down pipe. you could get the down pipe made out of 2.5 for a bit more flow.

Re: Engine tick when braking

So I've asked my mechanic friends about this and they are all stumped. When I press the brakes on the car, sometimes the car makes a sound that's kind of between a tick and throwout bearing noise that's the same speed as the engine rpm. It can happen even if the car is standing still in neutral wit...

Re: upgrading stock brakes?

when i re-did my brake system i simply rebuilt my calipers with the oreily's rebuild kit. the ones from oreilys will be about 80% cheaper then toyota and the availability was much better. I used 88rotors slotted and cross drilled rotors. They came in a kit with front and rear rotors and pads. as for...
